Preparing Windows upon logon. windows 8

Hi all,

 

I know there can be lots of issues with slow logon times, but have any of you had a problem with windows 8 joined to a 2012 domain waiting at the Preparing Windows for over a minute. If you press Ctrl ALt Delete and hit the back button it instantly logs into the desktop.

 

It does not seem to be doing anything else... it just sits there, I have tried all that I can think of.

 

If there was a way of scripting Ctrl ALt Delete cancel it would logon to the desktop within 10 seconds, but I have to wait for nearly 2 minutes. Or I could get the student to do this every time they log on but it is not ideal!

 

Any Help would be appreciated

Have you tried moving a machine (and user) in to an OU where no GPOs are applied, often it's a dud printer or drive mapping from a GPO that gets things stuck. If it logs in quickly without GP try re-adding one at a time and seeing if the issue returns.
