Got an Acer x1230pk. Since changing the bulb the screen is now affected with black marks all over it. I have changed to another bulb but the same occurs. These black marks do grow and shrink but generally are about the same size. It looks like an old picture has been burnt onto it somehow.

Maybe broken mirror/reflector. Doubt it would make a difference, but could try a different input on the projector to see if it still does it. Otherwise looks like a new projector if not in warranty.

Looks like possibly the projection element has been damaged actually, akin to a laptop screen being squeezed hard. Should be quite hard to manage that, but if the bulb didn't quite fit in right, it could have possibly caught it.

There are LCD panels that filter the light from the bulb. These have failed, possibly due to overheating. If bulbs are left in beyond their usual lifetime, they draw more and more power and get hotter and hotter beyond the specs of the projector. They can then cause physical damage to the LCD panels or the reflectors.

Both of these problems are generally cause for slinging the entire unit and buying a new one, as repairs will cost you as much as a new projector.
