Profile Deletion - help!

Recommended Posts

Posted

I've deleted some profiles to remedy a problem, and now users are unable to create the profile automatically as they usually do.

The permissions o0n the profile share are as recommended by MS, and I tried opening them up as well, with no effect.

Not all client PC's are affected, just XP SP2 [sP1 & 2000 seem unnafected/are able to create the profile]

Can anyone point me in the right direction here - there are too many users to recreate them.

Thanks

Sounds like it could be a problem on the specific workstations. Did you delete the 'Default' or "all users" profile from the c:\documents and settings folder? that can sometimes cause problems. Try copying them back from another workstation....

Shhh.... Can you hear the anti-RP crowd giggling!!

Sorry Mark! Have you tried cleaning out the local profile copies from one of the PCs to see if that helps (I've started using DELPROF in a startup script to completely wipe all profile information off PCs on boot-up).

Check the event logs on the PCs. Also, look at the USERENV logs (%systemroot%\debug\usermode\userenv.log).

Are you using the GPO settings to relax XPs checking of roaming profile ownership?
