themightymrp Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I don't think so, it might require some DNS changes so that the Autodiscover feature works correctly but I don't think SSO is needed. I can't say for sure though as we do have single sign on. We are having headaches getting Outlook 2010 to connect to 365 correctly but that's down to our ISP blocking something. We are trying to get this sorted but it's hard as I don't really know what connections need to be open!! It works spot on when I'm at home using my home broadband! The biggest bug bear for us with the new 365 is the lack of spell check support for older browsers (below IE10). We don't want firefox or chrome on machines but almost half of our workstations still run XP and are therefore limited to IE8! This is really causing some problems - why did MS decide to change the way this works?? It really seems like a step backwards to me. Also, it REALLY REALLY is a memory hog on the Web App!!

EduTech Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Microsoft have a fault at the moment with Exchange Online RPC/HTTPS Access i.e. Outlook. It appears to be down to Network/DNS which the engineers are investigating at the moment. Regards, James.

If it's LLN then it is probably down to the fact that in their DNS they have the autodiscover record to point to their own exchange server and thus any attempt for you to set it to office 365 will not work. This is what i've heard i cannot vouch that it is 100% accurate. However, i suppose you've not got very much longer to put up with that, once they become ICT4Leeds or you leave the autodiscover should work a treat

Remember Office365 is external to your organisation, so it doesn't know about or is linked to your domain (in its simplest form). You can get more complicated setups using ADFS etc.. but it's not necessary.

I really don't get Microsoft's strategy sometimes, its like you want us to move to other products hehe @zag - Nope, Win XP only supports upto IE8 1 of my clients still use Win XP and we have had to install Chrome for them because IE8 is so slow doing anything in O365. They was using Firefox for a few months and then that wouldn't show the Send button or the New Email button!

Companies can't support products forever! Unfortunately our school has no control over what OS and IE version people run at home. We can advise but at the end of the day users just expect things to work whatever Operating system you are on.
