Reece Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I'm trying to install Windows 7(64 bit) on a 3TB hard drive and it says http://i41.tinypic.com/scgpec.jpg After doing some stuff in diskpart I went to install and it said this http://i44.tinypic.com/2nlsdoo.jpg I went into Computer and it said I've only got 1.99TB. http://i40.tinypic.com/bfnr46.jpg So I went back too the install disc, opened diskpart, cleaned disk 0 and convert GPT. http://i43.tinypic.com/vfhw15.jpg I created a new partition and now it says this: http://i39.tinypic.com/1pgwwm.jpg When I try to create a new partition on "Disk 0 Unallocated"(746,5gb) I get an error saying: http://i44.tinypic.com/308d6b7.jpg What do I do?

Can't quite read the screenshots, but I'm guessing you've tried to make just 2 partitions one below 2TB? If so that wouldn't be accepted as such. You'll need to do some changes during the installation via diskpart, and change the settings as follows: Error 0x80042468 received when creating a single partition on a drive greater than 2.2TB during install of Windows Steve 1
Reece Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Before this all happened, the last thing I done was I updated my BIOS using @bioS and now my BIOS has a different screen. If you're saying it's working fine before reinstallation, I'd guess it was either formatted as above, or used as a secondary disk just as storage? Have you reformatted the drive, or was this storage etc? Steve

Have you reformatted the drive, or was this storage etc? Steve I has to reformat because I got BSOD(Blue Screen) and I've already done that command(look at pic 4&5)

From the picture you uploaded that's a windows screen, not the command prompt during setup. The config needs to be done during the setup using the shift-f10 menu as per the article. Steve I'm using the install disc, I have no OS installed.
mrwobbly Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 You have installed a BIOS that’s compatible with Windows 8 and has UEFI turned on by default. Go into the BIOS and disable UEFI and secure boot.

You mentioned updating bios so did you disable/renable UEFI support for GPT to work? There shouldn't be anything else needed, GPT disk and UEFI on. Steve

Steve I'm in the BIOS, under OS Type the options are: Windows 8. Windows 8 WHQL, and Other OS(Other OS selected) Boot Mode Selection: UEFI and Legacy, Legacy Only, UEFI Only(UEFI and Legacy selected) Storage Boot Option Control: Disabled, UEFI Only, Legacy Only, Legacy First, UEFI First(Legacy Only selected)
Reece Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 I have now fixed it! What I did? I got a USB flash drive and found a program called Rufus which made the USB UEFI bootable. Simple!
