Scratch 2.0 has been launched. It is browser based, so no need to install at school, also, children would be able to share their work with others, and update it from home which is good.

 

The possible downside is maintaining children's logons, and any e-safety issues of giving children access to the public web.

 

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

A downloadable version of Scratch 2.0 is coming later this year. (Based on Adobe Air.)

(Just spotted it now says end of August in the FAQ.

 

Being able to set up classes and register students within them will is something they are working on.
