Just an Idea I've been thinking about for a while now. Would it be helpful if in the future we were to create a module where you could add blocked site to which you could also download as xml or txt for adding to you own loacl filtering list? I know many already get filtering lists from their providers, but there are a great many sites added by us afterwards. Is it a good idea?

Hi Dos_Box

I think it's a great idea, but...

I believe this has been looked into previously (on the RM mailling list when it existed), and it was discovered that this has the potential to be a legally gray area.

It can be *seen* has a central links store (bookmarks if you will). If the content itself is illegal, then Edugeek will be seen as providing links for all types of perverts.

The big companies that do this normally encrypt the contents so it can't be seen outside of their software.

Just thought you should know.

Also I do think it is a very good idea - but often some schools filtering different sites i.e. some may allow games but others such as ours ban all games sites as soon as I find them. A list with sites covering every catagory will be difficult to manage and may mean a way of catagorizing the sites as you enter them.

But as metalmonkey has said - it may be a problem legally and cause an issue for Edugeek.

I had an idea maybe the way is to provide process so that urls people wish to add can be added to vendors filter lists. You start of with http://urlblacklist.com and then add more vendors from there. Add more vendors in as time goes on...

A one stop notify vendor system
