Duckstein Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Hi, I have been asked by our Attendance Officer if it is possible in SIMS to highlight students on a register that are on attendance targets that are close to being fast-tracked. This would then allow teachers to very quickly identify if students aren't in lesson. Something similar as to when a student is on report, their name on the register is highlighted in red. I hope that makes sense...and if it does, does anyone know if it is possible?! Cheers
Duckstein Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 I don't think that's possible. Neither do I...but having never really played about with SIMS and what it can do, I thought I would ask the question!
BKGarry Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) I don't think this is possible in Lesson Monitor, but it is in theory possible in Assessment Manager, but I would need to do some tweaking to find out, you would make a marksheet that shows their current attendance, then an aspect with their attendance target and then another aspect that says whether they are on target or not. We all get funky questions about attendance, every 2 weeks without a fail I get one that say why does it take a percentage of what attendance they are on to date and not the attendance if they are present for the rest of the year. I did make an excel sheet to do it once by exporting data from Assessment Manager, but it was broken within 2 weeks and I fixed it, they broke it again, after the 15th time I had to refuse to fix it, as it was taking up too much time. tombry Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 if you're just trying to show it on a register, put them on a department report - the department report still highlights the student, but will give a different code than the R - so you could make the code "A" for instance.

Thanks for this...but silly question time, will it highlight the students in a different colour, so the attendance "reports" stand out from the normal reports?
tombry Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I don't think so - pretty sure they're just always red. I'd love to be able to highlight students in all the colors available really, as I think it would be helpful for teachers to recognize at a glance what special needs they might have in their class.
BKGarry Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 SEN is simple, what you can do is go to Tools > Setups > Attendance Setup > Module Setup and the top box gives you a list of extra columns you can tick to show up at the beginning of your registers
BKGarry Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I would say you need to put in a change request, but it is not likely to be done unless a lot of schools want it
