chazzy2501 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 This is what I'd use Download Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation you get 90 days and it'll work after that if you just ignore the messages with it's built in AV that 1 less thing to do as well.
tech_guy Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I just largely hate computers now. Okay, just anything with any flavour of Windows on it. PITA having to constantly update this that and the other. Does anyone else feel the same? We're just bug-fixers for Micro$oft...

tech_guy Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 What's Win 8? What's an app? What's a store? Who am I?
Andrew_C Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I hate computers too. My home PC let out it's magic smoke yesterday. Blasted SFF* thing too, so I can't just swap in any of the PSUs that I've got kicking around! *Not MY choice!

PITA having to constantly update this that and the other. Does anyone else feel the same? We're just bug-fixers for Micro$oft... We're not bug fixers; if we had access to the code, we might be able to do something about the problems. That's a big plus with Linux; if you find a bug and you're clever enough you can fix it. It has been my experience, that with M$ we're just re-installers and it has been that way since the days of Win95. I've yet to have a Linux problem that I can't mend, but there are plenty with Windows that you either have to live with or just start again. 1
cobra427col Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I just dragged my brother into the mordern age.. replaced his win 2000 box for an xp box... Only did it now as he's gone and got that new fangled thing called boradband (had too as his old "dial up" isp closed its service down). Oh and made him bin his ball mouse as well - I'd gotten tired of cleaning the ack off the rollers to use it. When the OP mentioned issues with his tomtom - it got me thinking, as my win 7 box wont play nice with my go live and bricks it - so I have to dust off the ol xp lappy to update the gps.

Last time one of them went on me I left an ATX PSU sitting outside the case for six months.
Andrew_C Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 left an ATX PSU sitting outside the case for six months. We have house apes. They'd trash it in no time. Might get us going though...
