Arthur Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Website / Download / What's New / Release Notes Linux Mint 15 is the most ambitious release since the start of the project. MATE 1.6 is greatly improved and Cinnamon 1.8 offers a ton of new features, including a screensaver and a unified control center. The login screen can now be themed in HTML5 and two new tools, “Software Sources” and “Driver Manager”, make their first appearance in Linux Mint. http://i.imgur.com/MmHb09P.png 1
ConradJones Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 what do you reckon my chances of an inplace upgrade are?
ConradJones Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 apt dist-upgrade seemed to work fine after changes the sources.list anyone needed to get vmware workstation to work there is a nice easy script here installation - VMware 9 install not opening after extraction on 13.04 - Ask Ubuntu
ConradJones Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 driver manager looks like its for proprietary drivers only, not ones that come with the kernel
localzuk Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I've just done an in place upgrade and it appears to have gone without issue, even though I use Kubuntu backports (for the latest version of KDE 4), steam, playdeb, and google chrome repos.
bladedanny Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Just used apt dist-upgrade and seems to have worked fine.
featured_spectre Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 inplace upgrade worked reasonably well for me, few driver issues but nothing that wasn't easily fixed
ConradJones Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 eth0 doesn't seem to work, but i haven't put a lot of time into as i normally use wlan0 gets a connection light, just the operating system never see or reports the link is up.. weird. might look into it next time i need eth0
SHimmer45 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 has the network config been changed as in the later versions of centos for example you have to manually set the LAN to come up on boot.
ConradJones Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 ifup / ifdown doesn't work its done through NetworkManager the interface is enabled in the "control panel" for networking.
mats Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Nautilus stopped auto-starting after I upgraded. Pretty blank desktop until I figured that out.
ConradJones Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Do sudo service networking restart and tell me what happens
mats Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Do sudo service networking restart and tell me what happens Thanks for the delayed response! Restarting networking or the whole machine didn't help, I had to check a box somewhere to make nautilus auto-start. I hate to say it, but windoze updates don't tend to stop the desktop starting up properly..!
CAM Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 What is it like for Steam? Quite simple and smooth gameplay out the box?
