I always thought this was a good idea to be honest, I have no problem being "snooped on". I've always obeyed the law and have nothing to hide.

 

I'd personally give up a few civil liberties to keep safe, but I do realize that a lot of people have an ideological problem with it. Nick Clegg also needs to assure his party he's doing something every so often so killed it.

You see I think "I've done nothing wrong so why should the government be able to snoop on me".

The authorities do not have a good track record of using these kind of powers responsibly.

I'm one of them, i don't like the idea of if you've nothing to hide. You have nothing to hide at the moment, but who knows what laws are going to be brought in in the future. Also i believe we should have privacy online without the risk of someone looking over your shoulder at all times. It seems to pry far too much. People have said on the news recently that these 2 blokes in woolwich couldn't have been caught because they were randoms, how then is monitoring everyone's social networks going to help the situation?

Yep its the thin end of the wedge. Once everyone gets used to a law they tighten it up, wait a while, tighten etc.
