SOLUS 3 Deployment Server Database -- Error 1722

Hi all,

 

I am currently attempting to install the Solus 3 Deployment Service Database on a server.

This server is a fresh install and has .Net Framework 4 installed + Access to the MachineKeys.

It gets to a certain point in the install and then outputs this error:

I also get this if I look in Event Viewer:

Product: SOLUS 3 Deployment Server Database -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action LaunchVsDbCmd, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Solus3\Deployment Server Database\, command: **********

You're not trying to install it to SQL 2012 database are you?

No the database is SQL 2008.

Does the database exist in the DATA folder?

If it does delete it and then reinstall the SOLUS3 database.

I've seen this before. Capita connected up and it was to do with missing write access to a specific set of folders but for the life of me I cannot recall which ones! Looked on the closed SupportNet call and they did not put any closure details on it. I'll rack my brain and get back to you...

This is a brand new clean installation of SOLUS3 right?

 

Check out C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Capita\Solus3. Think it was the module folders that did not have write perms.

Hi Apologies for rezzing an old thread. We've recently taken over a site and we are running SOLUS upgrades and we're coming across this error when trying to upgrade the SOLUS db, i've gone through and followed as many steps as I can that could be the possible cause but i've had no luck, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue recently, I ended up manually creating the database in SQL Manager then imported the solus database dacpac file into the database, worked fine from then on.

Hi, I did this method and it has worked however now SOLUS is having one hell of a struggle to see that the server has SIMS on it and allowing me to pull down the updates I need.. multiple reboots and restarts of the SOLUS services seem to make no difference.

That sounds like an unrelated issue, I would suspect communication is being blocked somewhere.

 

All the solus database installer seems to do is create a database along side the sims database and populate it from the "Sims.Solus3.DeploymentServer.Database.dacpac" files (my database happens to be called sims, not sure if the file name changes for different db names.)

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at our Firewall to see if anything is getting stopped. It seems odd that when I click the update button in the main SOLUS settings it alerts me to X amount of updates its found e.g. SIMS 7.200.35 etc. Yet they don't appear in the main upgrades list. Could it be that SOLUS isn't recognising that SIMS is installed on the server SOLUS is on? In the targets list the servers aren't listed as any SIMS or SQL instances etc.

It has been a while but I believe you need to add the sims server into solus manually, it does not auto detect.

Makes sense, is that manually into an SQL table or into SOLUS itself? I've gone through every menu to see where I could add it in and the only place I reckon it could be won't let me.

When I click on that I get a message along the lines of SQL targets cannot be created until a target database has been setup. On the first menu I am unable to manually add in any details to add the SIMS server in.
