SQL 2012 express silent/unattended installs

Has anyone successfully managed to do a command line silent install of SQL 2012 Express? Preferably with SSMS etc..

 

Looking at firing this out to all schools in the county and not getting very far.

 

Currently using either the SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe or SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe and although the wizard mode seems to take less steps than 2008R2 did, the silent command line method is alluding me.

 

I've look at the info given on MSDN Install SQL Server 2012 from the Command Prompt and tried the example with no joy and played around with some variations without success.

 

So, anyone else had any luck?

 

Any ideas more than welcome.

 

oh yeah, I need it to have SSMS that's why I'm using the ADV version

Centrastage had scripts to roll out SQL2008 and all the pre requisites and even attach the DB to the new instance. I'm sure they'll have a script for 2012 as well.

Yeah we've got Centrastage throughout which is what I'm going to use to do it. Don't recall seeing the SQL2008 component, I'll have a look though. If there is something along those lines it would be a godsend.

We did the last migration via CentraStage for all of our LA sites and will be doing the same this year. They were top notch with their scripting guru Simon writing a number of scripts to ease the migration process. I'm sure it will be the same this time around, I'll be looking at automating the SQL installation over half term, then once we get the SISM Summer release with the migration tools, the real work and testing can begin!
