mrbios Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 We've got 3 of varied models, they aren't the most efficient from what i gather, but they are really easy to maintain. Generally they've been pretty good.
elsiegee40 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I could cheerfully have thrown ours out of the window. We didn't replace them with OKI. We got them 8 years ago. They may have improved since then, but the experience was so bad that we didn't even want to consider them again.
MatthewL Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Cannot fault them for build quality, have one here at home, well its my second but there good work horses. As for web interface on them I find that poor compared to some but all in all good quality printer.
Gatt Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Don't like them - Toner cartridges are a bloody nightmare!! I wasted more toner changing them than we actually used to print with! And when we changed the Magenta it looked like I had been performing some ghoulish open heart surgery! The school, in its infinite wisdom replaced all our nice HP printers with these beasts - without consulting me! Went on holiday leaving nice working HP printers, came back a week later to these things and spent weeks messing about getting them to work properly..
jamesfed Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Been replacing our Oki printers site wide (about 115 of the things) most are wearing out now after 5 years (frequent jams and so on) but decent printers otherwise. Our new HP contract was much cheaper than anything Oki quoted for though.
ConradJones Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 Went on holiday leaving nice working HP printers, came back a week later to these things and spent weeks messing about getting them to work properly.. there is an offer on i've been sent, if yours was recent its probably the same offer.
XiJ Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 The old C5xxx series had brilliant print quality and were easy to install / administer (in primary schools). As they got older print costs increased a lot though. I find the newer ones aren't quite the same build quality, as efficient or cheap to run. Oki support has always been rather good though.
Gatt Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 there is an offer on i've been sent, if yours was recent its probably the same offer. This was about 3 years ago and I "left" 2 years ago so they are welcome to 'em
tmcd35 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I switched from HP to Oki about 3 years ago when I got fed up with HP's support mechanism (either telephone roulette or webform and hope someone get back). Can't say we've ever had a problem with them. The only issue I've come across, which is the same for most other manufacturers anyway, is driver availability depending on model. The C810 doesn't have PS or PCL drivers, the C830 varient of the same printer does. Learn't the hard way what a pain it is to add printers to a print server without PS or PCL drivers...
