FOG Help needed

Hi People.

 

Iv got FOG running on a VM on my main machine (VM) while i test it out on my network. I have everything working DHCP wise but for some reason i cant seem to do anything on the FOG PXE screen.

 

If i try register the server it just freezes. When i try upload an image i get this problem:

Might be worth trying a different kernel.

I tried a updated version. Should i work my way down?

Yep, and try some of the different ones such as the PS & kitchensink. I remember having to use one of them for our Dell 740 desktops as nothing else would work with them. We have the kernel specifically set for those machines and everything else uses the default newer kernel.

Just ran into another problem:

 

fog invalid operating system id linux 50

 

Any ideas?

What client OS are you uploading? Not sure if Fog detects if it's a Windows OS and you've chosen linux for example?

It is linux. I hope its able to do it? Centos 6.4

Ah - I've only uploaded & downloaded Windows XP & 7 based images. I assume it's unable to detect the OS from the image maybe. The Raw image option might work as a work around?

See, Thats another question for you. Can you deploy an image without capturing it? So put Centos.iso into the image folder and deploying that?

I don't think so, not with Fog. But you may be able to deploy/run an ISO via PXE boot as an additional menu option on the Fog PXE menu as it just uses standard pxelinux.

You can image linux but you have to make sure the image type is multipartition single disk when matching it to the linux OS. Any other combination seems to fail.

Thanks! Ill give this a shot when i get home. Do you know of any other PXE systems with a panel for linux?

What didn't work? Are you just trying to capture a Linux image or trying to do the iso deployment thing?
