Olympic Acer Veriton L670G no post

On the off chance anyone else is experiencing the same thing,

 

We have a load of the ex-Olympic Acer Veriton desktop machines that we're using, but for no obvious reasons, at any one time, at least 2 of them won't POST. They'll fix themselves after a few days (or some kid knows how to fix them and I don't), though I've never paid particular attention to how long they take.

 

Short of going insane and swapping bits between machines, I've tried unplugging everything from the board in an effort to ressurect it from the dead, but it just sits there whirring like a really lame paperweight/desk fan combo. Anyone have any genious ideas?

I've seen the same problem with some of our ex-Olympic Acer Veriton L670G's.

The solution we found was to remove the BIOS battery, leave them for 10 mins, then reassemble. The only difficultly is actually removing the BIOS battery, as it's right on the edge of the board under a lip in the casing. It's almost impossible to get your hand in!
