Probably because you're forced to book numerous technician visits when the Sky+ box goes t*ts up every few months.

We're currently on our 5th and fighting a £65 charge for the last visit... Freeview and frankly bittorrent is looking like the only other option now..

What do you mean by free subscription?

As far as i know its £99 for the box plus £30 for install then it will be a £15 subscription per month for the standard package.

Get someone who has sky to recommend you and you will both recieve M&S vouchers

Hope this helps

Glad they have dropped the monthly fee. The only trick I know of is to pjone up and say you are cancelling and generally they bend over backwards to keep you. Might be able to get some money knocked of the sky box price.

Think it is a bit off that on the sky+ site they say "unlike other providers we charge the same whether you are new or been with us for years" Well I prefer the other providers view thankyou very much!!

I've had 2 new ones (I got a new one when I moved out and left the ex with the old one) and I "upgraded" the old one to an 80Gb HD when the 40Gb Maxtor (rubbish brand in my experience) died after 13 months. It was in a poorly ventilated cabinet and the heat killed it.

The replacement is still going strong after another 2 years (don't ask how I know... long story), and I've had my new one for 12 months now and it's only crashed a couple of times.
