HP Printer Maintenance Kit

One of my printers - HP Laserjet 4250 has just come up with "Perform Printer Maintenance". The device states "Maintenance Kit" is at 0%. Printer still seems to be working. The kit seems to be over £200. Can I continue using the printer or should I shell out £200 to get the kit?

The printer will work but quality will decrease.

 

I never used to but would always replace these as they need doing, its a good quality printer and you will never get anything as good from HP with the newer stuff they are bringing out. I would recommend spending the £200 and get it done and dusted.

i have used these people for printer parts in the past including HP Printer parts, repairs & servicing

they carry alot the HP stuff in stock.

 

agree the point about newer printers not being as robust as the older ones which is a damn shame and annoying

IIRC the kit includes a replacement fuser, which is worth doing and has something like a 200,000 page life, so you probably won't be doing it again any time soon. It also includes new pickup rollers which help reduce misfeeds.

Would agree worth doing on that unit they are the last of the amazing 4000 series printers HP did most of the new stuff is now junk that comes out of HP certainly not robust enough

The maintenance kits for these also includes a roller set and pickup rollers as well as fuser unit. It's worth doing on something like a 4250 or 4014 series but I wouldn't bother on a lesser printer.

One more question - How easy or difficult are these to fit.

Looks simple enough fusers are normally a case of undo a couple of thumb turn knobs and lift the old one out, reverse to install the new one.

 

The paper tray parts just snap out and snap in.

ive fitted the service kit on a 4250 its pretty straight forward and they supply all the "tools" you need.

when i last did one its worth checking the condition of the rollers as they dont always need to be replaced all at the same time.

The thing is built like a brick outhouse, and just plods on and on. It isn't fast but the consumables cost a fraction of the newer machines, and seem to last much longer.

 

How many of HP's current colour laser printers will do 9,000 pages on a toner cartridge?
