FTTx Products - Power Cuts

Question for you all, which may or may not be answerable.

 

Say if my area had a FTTx product, if there was a power cut in the local area but my equipment was running i.e. UPS or generator would my connection still work?

 

I know telephone exchanges work when there is a power cut due to generators etc but with FTTx having equipment in the street does it work, just curious more than anything.

a quick google suggests mains powered with some possibly some battery capacity in the cabinet, if there is battery i wouldn't rely on it though probably more for spikes than long outages

ADSL might be better as it would be exchange powered.

Correct, if the exchange goes down from powercut you are screwed, this is why local ISP's if the roll out fiber they may try to ger you to get a copper line in too just for phone. If you have fiber you have no phones if there is a powercut.
