Hi All,

 

Recently saw this...AmazonLocal Birmingham: VMware Certified Professional Online Course

 

Anybody else ever trained with them or used their material? Looks too good to be true (and as we all know if its sound too good then it normally is!)

looks like it's only access to the training materials - I'd imagine the exam cost would be extra

Yes - that's correct. The exam is extra... but assuming it's recognised as an official VMware course then it's a great way to be able to sit the exam.

Yeah, the exam price isnt included but after a brief google' it looks like some people say the website is a scam or has bad material.

I took a gamble on a similar AmazonLocal deal a couple of weeks ago from the same company - not VMware though.

 

Essentially it gives you access to a load of online lessons in the form of powerpoint style lessons. You click through either reading the information or listening to the commentary - there is then a test at the end for you to complete and if you score highly enough then you get a certificate to print to say you have mastered that module.

 

It is completely hands off from the company, and you can see that it is cheap because now they have developed the content there is no additional cost to them whether 10 people are studying it or 1000 so selling access cheaply might get them the odd £100 here and there that otherwise might not have come their way.

 

But if you are not good at learning by reading and listening, then avoid it.

It does just look too good to be true thats the problem, I think im just a sceptical person....

I wouldn't imagine that you would be able to do this online course rather than a offical VMware approved course before sitting the exam. Best way is to speak to the company selling the online resources or contact VMware.

The rather ropey looking website is just an entry point, it looks like that company is just a broker rather than the people that actually provide the training materials. For the course I am doing as soon as I login I am redirected to the training materials which are hosted on eLearning courses and blended learning | MindLeaders

The £1600 price is for a 1 week course in a LAB.

You can't become a VCP by online training and doing an exam!
