Live@Edu -> Office 365

We have just received our e-mail this morning to say we will move across to the Office 365 platform in 14 days.

 

Currently we use SSO with our Live@Edu setup and we are aware that SSO no longer works with Office365 without using ADFS. If we were to upgrade our accounts now and choose not to use ADFS, will our old Live@Edu accounts still work now with their current password from our AD, our will users not be able to login as it checks AD each time a logon is requested? I would be happy if this was the case and just reset the user passwords on an adhoc basis in the interim.

 

Longer term, we will probably go down the RM Unify product for Single Sign on, but this was probably a planned summer holidays job.

 

If someone can provide us with some options and thoughts as of what to do, that would be appreciated.

We are currently going though quite a few problems with adfs and SSO but I'm sure we will get there. But yes, you are right once moved to o365 it keeps your passwords and reset one at a time. Adfs seems really good when it works. Will update once it works 100%.

That's strange, I thought you got 30 days notice, or could upgrade on request... However as we found out last week Microsoft seem to have stopped upgrade requests, and support are unable to help with when we can actually migrate across.

 

Have they given you 14 days, is there an upgrade window you can use?

I am guessing they are now starting to force peoples hands. We were hoping to migrate fully in the summer but this looks unlikely to be the case now.

You can start the upgrade any time before 17 April 2013 UTC. Read the before-upgrade checklist, then sign in to the Service Management Portal (SMP) to get started. Remember, users will have access to their email throughout the upgrade process. Please note that it is no longer possible to postpone the scheduled upgrade date.
