Child with visual impairment - Group Policy disability settings for login?

Hi,

 

We have a child at our school who requires a larger display of fonts, bigger mouse cursor, mouse cursors with trails etc... and I need to know how to set up a Group Policy setting that will allow these things to follow him round wherever he logs on. Is this possible? If so could someone point me in the right direction please?! x

There seems to be a massive gaping hole on the internet that helps with the visually impaired and windows 7... Are there any theme packs that have already been created, that i can download to help this child???

They didn't give me the answers i was looking for sadly... When the user logs on we basically need the following to occur:

 

- Extra Large mouse cursor

- Slow mouse cursor

- A short trail behind the mouse cursor

- Font size 36

- Inverted black and yellow colour scheme

 

If someone can find a solution to this without having to use external software and purely using Group Policy or a login script- then you will be the only person on the internet because i can't find ANYTHING that helps these people with visual impairments in such a way. x

Hi Marsdenprimary. We managed the profile ok. There is also a mouse sonar which zooms on the cursor location which is useful. The only problem we had was that the mouse trail only worked on alternate logins. Cheers Dave

The issue with profiles is we have a generic student profile for student logins (with desktop, start menu etc...).

 

I'm struggling to understand how to implement the 'profile' thing? Could you give me some guidance please! x

We did ours by creating a visually impaired scheme(GPO) then linked the policy to that particular student.

The GPO was created as follows;

1. The background colour was configured in

“User Configuration/Policies/AdministrativeTemplates/Desktop/Custom”. Enable background colour.

2. “User Configuration/Policies/AdministrativeTemplates/Desktop/Desktop” and point to the path of the black background jpg.(In our case it was server based).

Then for the mouse\cursor etc;

We set the Mouse cursor etc on our workstation and notedthe registry key settings and configured policy accordingly;

1. “User Configuration/Preferences/WindowsSettings/Registry” Then separate entries for

2. Mouse Trails

3. UserPreferencesMask

4. Wallpaper and Wallpaper Source

The reg settings for mouse and wallpaper by the way are HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\General\Wallpapersource

That's great info Dave. My only issue now is setting it up so it activated when the user logs in- never used a registry file before.
