Exchage 2010 SP3 Problems?

Hi,

 

I am just wondering if anyone has had any issues upgrading Exchange 2010 to SP3? As it make significant changes to the database i am a little cautious.

Have done it to one server and all went ok - if i remember rightly it disables the services but that could have been one of the other service packs.

I only had 1 issue and know of one other.

 

1. OA stopped working and I couldn't disabled & enable it again. This was a test lab, only way I got it working was a rebuild.

2. Many customers reporting this issue, no ETA on fix. - Unable to soft delete some messages after installing Exchange 2010 SP2 RU6 or SP3

Correct, All SP for Exch disable the services. They should get enabled after but isn't always the case.

Only the 2 issues mentioned above. Apart from that the actual upgrade process is perfect, it's the issues you may have after.

 

I will be updating other customers later on this week. If there's an issues, I'll report on this post, if I dont then assume these were fine.

On my testbench setup OWA logins broke, I tracked it down to the forms based authentication not starting automatically. I had to change it to Automatic (delayed) to get it to work again.

 

Also Im getting lots of wierd errors in OWA.

 

I havent upgraded in production yet.

I had no issues myself, in fact it cured a few issues with OWA

 

Unlike SP2 RU4 where it failed half way through and I had to resurrect the entire Exchange server remotely

Yeah applied this to quite a few servers now and not had any problems, i recommend you upgrade if your running an earlier service pack.

Still running SP1 here, really need to upgrade, am I likely to encounter any issues going straight from SP1 (other than it presumably taking longer)?

 

Was scared off doing SP2 a bit after reading a few horror stories on here

On SP2 with one of the CU on it. Looking at SP3 as a half term project

is it possible to go from SP2 CU4 striaght to SP3 or do i need to go to a latest CU before the SP3?
