unable to edit logon.vbs script

Hi All

 

Just had a new printer delivered all installed ok went to the logon.vbs script for the client users edited to include new printer went to save the file confirmed to over write the file then was hit with error message access denied. Im logged on as Administrator ive tried domainadmin also but cannot save the .vbs script to include the new printer. Can anyone shed some light on this running server 2008 r2

If people are logging in \ out when you are trying to overwrite the file then it will be in use and fail to let you save.

 

If you try again out of hours, it should overwrite.

What you could try is copy the vbs file to your machine and change it and test it.

 

Then copy the file into place before the school day starts.

I tried both methods and both report access denied . I disabled the lan adaptor also just to make sure no one accesed the server . Think its time i got the company that built this server a call because no amount of admin rights is allowing me to edit and save the logon file

Something or someone has a lock on the file. You can go into the Computer Management console > Shared Folders > Open Files to see who has what open. If this persists, reboot the box after hours and try opening the script locally by browsing C:\Windows\SYSVOL\sysvol\\SCRIPTS.

Thanks all for replies issues now resolved. Ended up pulling network plug again and it worked
