Hi

Occasionally the fans in our server rev up to max !!

When I remote to the server and have a look, the cpu's are working hard but it doesn't show what processes are using it -- I'm presuming someone is doing a search for files etc as that usually causes it to rev up.

Is there a way to see who / what is making it do it ?

Thanks

How are you looking at what the CPUs are doing? If you're just looking through task manager try Process Explorer instead (Process Explorer) which should give a more in depth view as to exactly what processes are running.

check for firmware updates. i have a little 110 in the cupboard for NAS and Lab facilities and it was unbearable on max all the time. bios update fixed it.

EDIT: Sorry should have fully read the op.
