acer laptop replacement keyboard

Does anyone know a good (ie cheap) supplier for replacement keyboards for Acer laptops. Teacher has worn hers out!!! (Gaming I think )

We get all our replacement laptop keyboards (those that are out of warranty anyway) from this guy.

Yeah but how do you fit them. TravelMates just don't seem to want to be disassembled.

On the travelmates (4150's anyway) it's simply a case of pulling off the top part of the strip (under the TFT but on top of the keyboard). Once you have that off the screws for the keyboard are accessible

 

If you like I can send you the travelmate 4150/4160 service pdf in case it's of any use.

I found the travelmates quite easy to dissasemble. Had to make one good one out of two the other week, that involved stripping it down to case and motherboard level. Passed a morning by enjoyably anyway

Have to agree the Travelmates are so easy to change keyboards on, we have many different model travelmates from the last 7 years, its just undo the screws that hold the panel below the tft (the section where the power button and other quick launch buttons are), flip that panel up and keyboard just lifts up

Yes acer's are very good for in-house repair, pity their laptops and customer service suck

What about replacing the tracker pad buttons (left and right mouse click buttons I mean) on the TravelMates? (actual model number not known off hand).

 

Are those also quite handy to get to?

not had to worry about those... but again maybe ebay? failing that you should be able to get them from the people at acerwarranty.co.uk

Dont get acers in future if they gonna get the slightest abuse on the keyboard, they are a real weakpoint

Is that one of the ones with the yellow bit in the centre of the jack? If it is then there are a bunch of Dells that use the same one, but to be honest in this case I would just get a compatible or one that just covers a range of models. Prob the third of the price and just as unreliable as the original lol. No really, mix n match the psu, shouldnt be a problem.

 

It is only when buying batteries that ya need to tread careful. ALWAYS go for the best.
