Exchange 2007 PF Replications

Hello im getting the following error on exchage 2007, very new to this i have inherited this network, i belive there was a 2003 box.

Error updating public folder with free/busy information on virtual machine SERVERNAME. The error number is 0x80004005.

Event id: 8207

 

Users who use Outlook 2003 cannot publish their free/busy data in Exchange Server 2010 or in Exchange Server 2007

I was following the above link but unsure what to do to resolve it when i get to step two as im unsure where the folders shoudl replicate to.

1. Do you have OLK 2003 clients?

2. Only Exch 2007 in your Org?

1. As far as i know we are 2007 and above

1. Ill have a read when i get a minute, are PF only used on versions prior to 2007.

2. Not that im aware of but this was set up before me and no documentation left. Any way i can check, i think there is an offline address book and people do use calanders but i dont think they share them.

PF are used for content/calendars/oab/free busy/org forms/system folders. However, you need to know what is being used in your env. If I were to guess I would say the usual stuff. I would gather statistics.

Not sure what happened to my last reply. Check the OAB distribution method. Make sure it's Web-Based, then you can remove PF all together.

Any advice on how to remove PF. Would this affect having shared calanders in the future? Thanks for all your help so far

Shared Calendars, I assume these are shared mailbox calendars and not Public Folder calendars as I didn't see them in the output above.

 

If you want to use shared calendars with Public Folders then you still need a Public Folder datavase, if you want to share calendars using mailboxes then you don't. You need to decide that.

Once you have made your decision, then let me know. Either proceed to remove the PF, but make sure OAB is set to Web-Based distriubution or keep the PF DB if you have a need as mentioned above and clean up PF system folders.
