The ban is normal practice though. Some online companies will ban your account if you apply a chargeback to recover funds as you and your card are no longer trustworthy.

Of course, they screwed up anyway and logged all refund requests from Amazon as chargebacks and banned them by accident even if it was just a query. >.<

Wait when was this! Point me to it lol

Also,

Origin Ids for multiplayer gaming? :) So far only 3 of us on a server :(

A few of us here are talking about picking up SimCity 2013, as Dan, our web developer, has been going on at great lengths about it.

I think it'll be after Easter for me, however!

To be fair, the OFT says digital items are "services" not goods, because they aren't physical. Which means you aren't covered by distance selling regs.

Which is silly... Digital things are made of electrons, electrons have a mass therefore it's a physical thing. :p

On an entirely unrelated note, then, to cheer proceedings up:

It may be the same weight as a strawberry... But I doubt it tastes like one. Especially considering a lot of the websites that exist in the darkest parts.

How to circumvent the Server Full lockout by tweaking a config file:

How to force join a server your friend is on, but you cant join. : SimCity

It's modifying a config file (instead of config.cfg they call it something stupid thinking we won't snoop around with a text editor ;)) and the file's contents change every time you close the game. Doubt it's able to be picked up on, let alone banned. This isn't a hack or modding, all games have allowed modification of config.cfg :)

@CAM

Just like to say a BIG thank you for your solution. +rep

It's helped me get many players onto my region :)

Hmm been a bit fed up of being on my own on a 16 player map.

Origin id is Ghostgame.

What server are you on?

EU West 1. Got 1 abandoned free (you got limited / deluxe edition? Doesn't work for normal).

Currently awaiting a reply from EA to kick 2 inactives on my region. Should be solved soon.

Name is Rikevfox although I am at my wits end with this game. Depends if I land an Origin ban or not after the feedback I left them on the forums...

I have the standard version with no DLC. If someone has abandoned a city in a region and you want to take it over, you must have the exact same DLC they have or it blocks you from taking over the city. Even if you have the DLC, if you buy it in a package and someone else bought the packs standalone, they are still incompatible when taking over abandoned cities.

This also means if you want to play in a region with friends, if there is only an abandoned city left then there is a good chance you cannot join them due to this DLC Block even if the abandoned city is a fresh, untouched plot.

That's some clever design by EA there... Wow.

- Use avenues to get people from A-B and try avoid zoning on them, they are buggy.

- Volunteer all your vehicles except Recycling Trucks to neighbours. You don't get penalised for it except Recycling Trucks which are bugged and break the recycling centre.

- Do not demolish buildings with vehicles. Switch them off and wait for all service vehicles to return to avoid the ghost vehicle bug. Also bulldoze roads with traffic slowly so the people on them snap to the nearest road to stop service vehicles and population vanishing into the ether.

- Nuclear power is best avoided until you fully understand how to exploit the education system or you will irradiate half your city.

- Put Commercial in-between Industrial and Residential (but not directly on your main route to minimise congestion, use access roads!) so people shop on their way to and from work. Also sprinkle some Commercial around the rest of your Residential zones so everyone isn't descending upon one part of the city when they go shopping.

- Plan your road network. Now. Do it or suffer traffic hell. Keep the area round your highway connection clear of excess zoning and junctions.

- Gambling and Tourism is broken and doesn't work. Processed resources like Oil, Coal and Iron are the way to go. Processors and TVs are most profitable.

- Play with friends! It makes it so much better.

What? You expect EA to offer free DLC without getting a kickback somewhere? [/sarcasm]

Nah, I expect a complete game if I'm gonna spend £35+ on it...
