Ad logon macs

Hi Everyone

 

We've had macs bound to our AD for the last 4/5 years and authentication from the macs have been fine,home directories mounting OK

 

Suddenly find that users cannot authenticate to AD, just get the shaking log on screen

 

I have unbound the mac and rebound to AD all OK. Ive checked the time against AD time,all Ok

 

Strange thing is that if I log on the mac with the AD administrator account authentication OK and Ad administrator home directory is mounted.

 

Anyone elsae seen this?

 

Some guidance would be appreciated

how are your macs bound to AD? what server version are you using?

As it has worked in the past it doesn't sound like this will help but if you go in to the Active Directory Users and Computers tool and turn on advanced features click on a user who is unable to log in and check that in the security tab that 'Authenticated Users' is set to read.

Also, I have seen some issues if they are trying to mount 2 drives at login.

All our Dc's are using Windows Server 2008 R2

 

Just an update

 

I have just rebuilt a mac from the installation DVD and bound it to Active Directory with no problems.

At the log on screen it says that network accounts are available

I tried to log in with an exsisting ad account that had been used to log on to other macs but all I got was the shaking log on screen.

I then set up a brand new AD account and logged on to the mac OK, authentication OK

If you look at the console log are you getting errors with the home drive? Also which version of OS X are you using. If its anything below 10.6.6 then I would recommend upgrading!
