I have limitlogin installed and have found that one of two things can cause this error:

1 - A minimum of .Net Framework 2.0 must be installed on each workstation and server.

2 - The server running the web service for Limit Login is either unreachable or it has not been installed correctly.

Have you installed the IIS, AD and Client applications?

I have had problems with the MSI before but not in the way you are describing. Walk us through what you have done already. Have you moved the scripts needed to run the client into the right place and assigned it to them in GPO?

This morning i have installed the latest version of .net version 2.0. The server is the logon server so it must be connecting and seeuing the server. But it is still not working.

LimitLogin is a pain to get running. Try using WireShark and getting some packet captures. You shoudl be able to see where the script for the client is sending information and if its receiveing it. If it is getting a response then maybe check you have configured users properly in AD.

We found that we just needed to configure the LimitLogin scripts and make sure our DNS was correct and that the releveant information went to the right place.
