Windows XP Service Pack 3, Release Candidate 2 Available now, the very latest build of SP3 for Windows XP includes all previously released updates for the operating system, similar to previous service packs. It also includes previously released updates to the latest versions of some system components, as well as functionality for improved compatibility with Windows Vista. The application to enable the XP SP3 RC2 download can be found at the Microsoft Download Center. Running this application on a machine with Windows XP Service Pack 2 will enable Windows Update to offer XP SP3 RC2 to that machine. Build-to-build upgrades are not supported for this beta release, so if you have installed XP SP3 RC1, please uninstall it before running this application. Finally, the 2007 Microsoft Office system includes design changes you should know about before you deploy or upgrade from previous versions in your Terminal Services server farm. kmount Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Indeed, I wouldn't touch it just yet ... Fortunately, its opt in not opt out

PEO Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 I know xp sp3 was released to technet subscribers about a month or 2 ago, so any problems i would think MS will have iron'ed them out...You would hope ha! any how I'm downloading it on to my test machine. Good luck!!
PeterW Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 download xp sp3 direct from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en That would be a release candidate build 3264 by the looks of it, build 3311 installed here and its still release candidate. Was it just me or did anybody else get really excited at seeing that topic title? (and then ultimatley dissapointed)
Oops_my_bad Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Geez, well that was a bit of an anti-climax!
SimpleSi Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Could mod or OP change the thread title please regards Simon
farmerste Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 i bet xp sp3 makes xp turn into a really bad experience, that way when you change over to visturd, i bet you don't notice the difference. i'll give it a try and see
farmerste Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 5 mins to download 35 mins to install 2 ERRORS about non genuine files, it didn't tell me what they were, and i cant find a log to tell me either replaces 'stubpath' entries, so it F*cks up default user profile no option to 'dont keep files for uninstall' when first installing. probably ok for a new machine, but i wont be adding this to my current images. otherwise seems ok on a plus side i was expecting it to ram mozilla ( sorry meant IE7) down your throat, and it didn't. They must have missed that
contink Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Could mod or OP change the thread title please regards Simon Seconded... Requires a lot of reading to figure out this is another release candidate and not the gold release. Nice to know it's progressing none-the-less.
