Printing from Google Mail

Hi - think this is the most appropriate forum.

 

Got a user who has Google Mail and is having difficulty printing. If he downloads the file, opens it and prints it from his machine it's fine. If he views it via Google Docs and tries to print it sends the job but it sticks in the printer. I think it's to do with the documents defaulting to US letter size in the viewer, but I can't duplicate the problem on my laptop.

 

Had a quick Google without much luck and figured that someone on here is likely to have come across and solved the problem!

Has the paper size been set up correctly in the printer properties?

 

I've just had a play. If the paper size is "unspecified" in printer properties Google seems to default to Letter, if it's A4 it uses A4.

It's set to "Original Size A4" and "Paper Size same as Original Size". I'll see if making both A4 helps. The old printer used to have a "print letter as A4" option...

Making both the same seems to have done the trick, though it still prints out the equivalent of "onto letter" - an A4 document that fills one page will be forced to two. Still an improvement.
