ben604 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Hello, We've got a ruckus wireless network and it runs perfectly. The netbooks/laptops often don't. We've got a load of Samsung NB30 Netbooks which every now and then don't connect to the domain. Logging in locally shows they're not connected to our wireless network and in fact don't recognise any wireless networks at all. The "view available wireless networks" page is completely empty. A simple "repair" of the wireless connection solves the issue and they connect straight away to the correct wireless network allowing the student to log on to the domain once we've logged out of the local machine. Is there a way to script that "repair" function to take place just before the login screen appears? Thanks, Ben.
pantscat Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 How old is the wifi driver on these samsungs? We've had issues with using out of data wireless drivers with our Ruckus system - as soon as you update the drive on the client everything runs perfectly. 1

skell Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) Have you tried a different wireless card? I know its extreme, but we've found that we have much better results with Intel based wireless cards, with Ralink being the worst. Had mixed results with Realtek ones. Failing replacing the internal card, how about trying one with a usb dongle? Or failing that, do they have static IP's? Edited February 7, 2011 by skell

ben604 Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Hi Skell, we've got 100+ of these netbooks, so replacing the wireless cards isn't really an option, due to cost and effort and the usb dongles would simply get stolen! Hi Pantscat, it's definitely a local issue rather than a ruckus problem, they usually detect wireless networks from over the road when they're working, but they're absent too when this issue occurs.
