contink Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Small request... One of my primaries is getting SIMS moved on to the main server so the staff can start to access and handle various functions that until now have been sorted by the secretary or head teacher. Net result is that I need to know a lot more about what it does, how to keep it maintained and best practices re: backups, etc... I'm assuming that there are expensive courses available for this sort of thing which unfortunately is not an option so can anyone provide any links to resources, books, online training, etc... if at all?
apeo Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Who supports your SIMS .NET? if its your lea surely they would have some courses.
contink Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 Who supports your SIMS .NET? if its your lea surely they would have some courses. I'd need to check but I believe it's actually a private company under contract so I suspect they may not be overly helpful on that score. Like I said I'd need to check but any book or course material resources would be good regardless.
Oops_my_bad Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I have had no training on SIMS.net and tbh never even heard of it before I started here. For me it just works and is reasonably stress-free. If you don't have an LEA backed support method in place (like us) then you may find peace of mind by paying capita for a support package. You can find most stuff out on supportnet (and let's face it if it's not on there capita staff sure as hell won't know the answer either) and as long as you keep backups and run it on a good server you will be fine.
