sidewinder Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Stupid question probably, and I think it is answered here: Microsoft Volume Licensing - Windows 7 But just wanted to check - when I buy new machines, it doesn't matter which version of W7 come with them as long as there is one? For some reason I got it in my head I needed to buy them with W7 Pro
teejay Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Yep, you're correct, any version will do as long as it's an OEM version or full retail version.
sidewinder Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 Thanks, will save a few quid, as all the quotes I've been getting include Pro. I'm an idiot!
gshaw Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Thanks, will save a few quid, as all the quotes I've been getting include Pro. I'm an idiot! Big manufacturers won't give you Home most of the time, Stone etc will though
teejay Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Dell will, most others will if buying in quantity to order but not for off the shelf systems.
sonofsanta Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Any OEM licence will do... if you could get hold of Win95 OEM licences still, they'd be sufficient. Except Microsoft have retired all but the Win7 SKUs to push the price up, the swines.
