Has anyone had a short throw Hitachi projector (ours is the ed-A110) that has had the door with the mirrored lens which flips down stop working. The motor.runs but the door just swings free as though the rack its on has become disengaged. Its out of warranty and been told it coukd be an expensive repair and not viable. Can it be fixed easily? Sure I read on here someone having a similar issue but cant find the thread.

I assume it has taken a knock and broken the drive to the flap there are several things that could have broken, the cost of a fix to that would be in the region of £80 due to labour.

Found a service manual and it looks like a motor that drives the door direct so will see. Dont know how it happened just that it stopped.working!

How did you get on with this? I have a school client with the same issue and as im a very consciencious salesman i wont just write it off to make margin on a new unit, i'd rather help him out if i can

We've had this happen to a number of ours, seems to be a common fault. Those still in warranty Hitachi have been happy to replace straight away. Those that were out of warranty cost about £270 +VAT. Edited by jha

Well.since that first one I posted about, now on number 3 since September, all same fault. Had to pay th£270 fee as all ioout of warranty, not happy and not a popular person with those who control the budget.
