Well, my first post on my Edugeek blog!! I have had the account since January 2010 and never even knew there was a Blogging platform, built in to the site!
I have loved Edugeek and its forums / blogs since I went to BETT in January 2010 (hence joining then!), and I am currently mega-excited (yes, I know, a little sad!) about BETT this year, as I am going up on Thursday.
What makes it better this year, is that I am taking a group of Year 13 BTEC students with me! This should be fun, and
I woke up this morning and thougt to myself when will it end. Working as a ICT Tech in a school is great but it looks like I may have do do more Outgoings (food fuel gas electric mortgage)- doing nice things = still cant afford to live.
Gas prices keep going up petrol keeps going up cost of living keeps going up wages stay the same.
My parter told me to sell myself I told her none would buy a body like this lol.

This post is a continuation of my battle to compelte a cohesive intranet; and some more ramblings about Sharepoint. Its turned into a monster of a project this one. The external single sign on (SSO) was a breeze - thanks to Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) - but this presented an issue - internal or external, you would be faced with a logon screen. Not ideal - internally we wanted a double SSO which would use your Active Directory logon session to SSO with the TMG HTTP session.

It will work with ANY wordpress theme so you can just plug straight in and start building the courses and assigning/registering users.
Personally, I find WP more user friendly to setup and maintain than Moodle, so this will suit me.

OK Maybe it is just my school but does anyone else have staff who can trash thumb drives at will?
I am now the proud owner of a number of returned sticks because they are no longer being recognised by our PC's or laptops. Have a Verbatim Store N Go drive sitting in my home machine (Win 7 64) now and it is just flashing away. Explorer etc. can see it and allocate a drive letter but you can't access it. Got an XP machine at school to eventually bring it up in Disk Manager and it said the drive

For the past couple of years, barring a hiatus when I was too damned busy getting 2008R2 set up on a Hyper-V cluster with System Center, I've been writing up brief weekly tips and emailing them round to all our staff. I am currently using a QNAP TS-459U which has 4x1TB HDD that are configured as Raid 5, this stores the whole schools backup. As everyone who works in a secondary school/medium sized buisness knows this isnt alot to backup everyones personal areas and shared areas even if you have scheduled incremental backups.
