Southwell Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Hi all, Does anyone have any idea what decent instand messenging software there is around? Both free and chargeable software is useful. It must be only network based. It is something that might be useful to give to teachers to contact each other easily but also a useful function would be being able to contact the students and have help sessions if needed. cheers
ChrisH Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Theres a few choices when it comes to free ones. Somebody else will know better than me. As for commercial ones there is ImJack from amteus plc.
webman Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Jabber (free). Do a search for it on these forums, there's a few threads about it.
Southwell Posted November 16, 2007 Author Posted November 16, 2007 I tried a search, lots and lots of threads came up, ill try jabber as IMJack is the one i was asked to research, thought id see what others used. Thanks
Gatt Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 We've just started using Microsoft Office Communicator 2007
localzuk Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I would suggest Jabber - try openfire, as it is easy to set up and run. Do a google search for it.
Guest Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Take alook at Openfire IM Server and Spark IM Client
