Although it still doesn't work! function validate_form ( ) { valid = true; if ( contact_form.staffname.value == " " ) { alert ( "Please fill in the 'Name' box." ); contact_form.staffname.focus(); valid = false; } if ( contact_form.email.value == " " ) { alert ( "Please fill in the 'Your Email' box." ); contact_form.email.focus(); valid = false; } if ( contact_form.week[0].checked == false ) { alert ( "Please choose either Week A or B" ); contact_form.week.focus(); valid = false; } if ( contact_form.absentallday[0].checked == false ) { alert ( "Please choose whether you are out all day or not." ); contact_form.absentallday.focus(); valid = false; } if ( contact_form.reason[0].checked == false ) && ( contact_form.reason[1].checked == false ) && ( contact_form.reason[2].checked == false ) && ( contact_form.reason[3].checked == false ) && ( contact_form.reason[4].checked == false ) && ( contact_form.reason[5].checked == false ) && ( contact_form.reason[6].checked == false ) ) { alert ( "Please Select a reason for absence." ); contact_form.reason.focus(); valid = false; } return valid; } here is my form tag </pre><form action="submitcover.php" method="post" name="contact_form" id="contact_form" onsubmit="return validate_form ( );"> < It doesn't work at all! it just submits the page regardless! i'm not quite sure what i have done wrong!

Whats wrong with this? (been staring at a screen to long most likely its something simple). It won't even run any of it and throws an error when called. function session() { if (document.getElementById("sessionType").value == "http") { document.getElementById("realm").disabled=false; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKey").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieLifetime").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeMedium").disabled=true; document.getElementById("includeIP").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookiePathOverride").disabled=true; document.getElementById("phpCookiePathOverride").disabled=true; document.getElementById("realmRequired").innerHTML="*"; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKeyRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("includeIPRequired").innerHTML=""; } else if (document.getElementById("sessionType").value == "cookie") { document.getElementById("realm").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKey").disabled=false; document.getElementById("cookieLifetime").disabled=false; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeMedium").disabled=false; document.getElementById("includeIP").disabled=false; document.getElementById("cookiePathOverride").disabled=false; document.getElementById("phpCookiePathOverride").disabled=true; document.getElementById("realmRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKeyRequired").innerHTML="*"; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeRequired").innerHTML="*"; document.getElementById("includeIPRequired").innerHTML="*"; } else if (document.getElementById("sessionType").value == "php") { document.getElementById("realm").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKey").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieLifetime").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeMedium").disabled=true; document.getElementById("includeIP").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookiePathOverride").disabled=true; document.getElementById("phpCookiePathOverride").disabled=false; document.getElementById("realmRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKeyRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("includeIPRequired").innerHTML=""; } else if (document.getElementById("sessionType").value == "remote_user") { document.getElementById("realm").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKey").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieLifetime").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeMedium").disabled=true; document.getElementById("includeIP").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookiePathOverride").disabled=true; document.getElementById("phpCookiePathOverride").disabled=true; document.getElementById("logOutLink").disabled=false; document.getElementById("realmRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKeyRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("includeIPRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("logOutLinkRequired").innerHTML="*"; } else { document.getElementById("realm").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKey").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieLifetime").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeMedium").disabled=true; document.getElementById("includeIP").disabled=true; document.getElementById("cookiePathOverride").disabled=true; document.getElementById("phpCookiePathOverride").disabled=true; document.getElementById("realmRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("cookieSecretKeyRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("cookieLifetimeRequired").innerHTML=""; document.getElementById("includeIPRequired").innerHTML=""; } }

The school I am at today require the use of 360 degree interactive panoramic images on their Website. this would not normally be an issue for me however I have 1 major constraint: The site solutions provider will not give me access to the back end of the site so I cannot upload any javascript files Anyone got any solutions for me? I can use the WYSIWYG editor to add HTML code to the page that is not a problem but I'm having issues getting one solution I found to work using this method as the HTML added is only inserted into the body of the site: 360 panoramic javascript virtual tour - Free I am at my wits end. Thanks for looking

Hi all. I have created a dynamic floating ‘pill’ effect for my navigation bar with Jquery, whereby the nav bar pops out on scroll and is encapsulated by a pill-like shape. It works fine at a base level, but I’m noticing that if you attempt to hover over the nav bar on a part that contains sub-menu’s, it will add a white space above the nav bar and duplicate the sub menu. It only happens if you try to use the nav bar whilst the page is still loading, if you leave it a few seconds for everything on the page to load, the issue doesn’t occur. I have tried loading the code in the header and the footer, no change. I have tried to hide the overflow of the nav bar and also tried adding hide overflow to the global css, I have tried adding code that notices if the sub menu is duplicated and deletes it Instantly, nothing works. Short of disabling the nav bar for a few seconds after page load, I’m not sure what to do. It doesn’t happen on mobile but if anyone is able to help and wants to test on pc: http://samq8.sg-host.com That’s the link to the site (it’s in development) If anyone needs it, I can get the entire jquery to show you. I’ve ensured there’s no conflicting css in the global (I think) and I’ve combined all my jquery into one incase having bits scattered was causing the issue, nothing has helped. Thanks!

Hi, really hope someone here can help or offer some guidance. I'm using dropotron to power the drop down menus (code will be on post below) on our new site which works fine. The problem I have is that's not very accessible for keyboard only users. Curriculum Art GCSE Media Studies Humanities & Social Sciences Information Information Home Admissions Behaviour For Learning For example, if a user hovers the mouse over Curriculum the submenu appears. On a mobile device touching Curriculum displays the sub menu. Tab-Enter will display the menu, but tabbing again will move to the next option at the top level, it will move to Information rather than Art on the submenu. Looking at Information which has a specified URL we get the following. Mouse hover displays the sub menu, touch and tab-enter take the user to the URL specified. What I'm desperate to achieve is the following behaviour: When a menu is hovered by a mouse, show the sub-menu. When a menu is clicked with a mouse, open the link (or do nothing, or close the menu - not too bothered!). The first time a menu is clicked by touch, show the sub menu. The second time a menu is clicked by touch, open the link (or do nothing, or close the menu - not too bothered!). Hitting Enter opens the link I'm in no way an expert (barely a beginner!) with JS so anything would be a help!

So, I have a function which when called adds a table within a new row of an existing table, complete with results returned in JSON format by a restful API. Code: $(".transactionViewButton").each(function(){ var $this = $(this); $this.on("click", function(){ if($(this).closest("tr").next("tr").attr('id') != "itemsRow"){ var rowAdd = "Item IDItem NameCostFSM AmountEnd Cost"; $.getJSON("transactionItem.json", function(data){ $.each(data, function (key, val){ rowAdd += "" + val.ID + "" + val.Name + "" + val.Cost + "" + val.FSM+ "" + val.EndCost + ""; }); }); rowAdd += ""; $(this).closest("tr").after(rowAdd); } else { $(this).closest("tr").next("tr").remove(); } }); }); And the JSON test data: [{ "ID": "123", "Name": "Food Item 1", "Cost": "0.50", "FSM": "0.00", "EndCost": "0.50" },{ "ID": "124", "Name": "Food Item 2", "Cost": "0.50", "FSM": "0.00", "EndCost": "0.50" },{ "ID": "125", "Name": "Food Item 3", "Cost": "0.50", "FSM": "0.00", "EndCost": "0.50" }] The function works as much as it adds the new table, with heading row and with the closing row. It also will remove the new row if triggered a second time. The problem is in the $.each part. I know its receiving the JSON data as inserting an alert before the rowAdd += results in a response for each record. It just isn't adding the actual table row in to the rowAdd string for each record. Its like its just plain skipping that line. Also, there's no javascript errors either. So, what am I missing?

Hi guys, I made an upload script using uploadify (uploadify.com), on some IE8 mechines it works perfectly. But on others (with the same IE version & flash version) it brings back the following error: Object doesn't support this property or method Which comes from IE making this script: try { document.getElementById("file_uploadUploader").SetReturnValue(__flash__toXML(jQuery("#file_upload").attr("width",120)()) ); } catch (e) { document.getElementById("file_uploadUploader").SetReturnValue(""); } Does anyone have any ideas? I cannot edit this code directly as it is made by IE... I think it might be related to swfobject but changing it breaks it all together... Thanks, Marty

Hi all, hoping somebody can help with this - Is their an easy way to achieve the following - When a student logs into the VLE they're directed to their homepage. On the first visit to this homepage, I would like a new browser window, loaded with another website to open up. On subsequent visits to the homepage, I don't want the browser window to open up again, (unless they were to log out and log back in again for example - basically I don't want it loading each and every time they visit the page during one browsing session, once a session is fine). Does anybody know of a solution, perhaps in javascript that could easily achieve this? Many thanks,

I've put this together from various snippets from the web: $(function() { $('.accordian li:odd:gt(0)').hide(); $('.accordian li:first').css("background-image", "url(customnav_selected.png)"); $('.accordian li:even:even').addClass('even'); $('.accordian li:even:odd').addClass('odd'); $('.accordian li:even').css('cursor', 'pointer'); $('.accordian li:even').click( function() { var cur = $(this).next(); var old = $('.accordian li:odd:visible'); if ( cur.is(':visible') ) return false; old.slideToggle(500); cur.stop().slideToggle(500); $(this).css("background-image", "url(customnav_selected.png)"); old.prev().css("background-image", "url(customnav_available.png)"); } ); }); HTML School School Information School Contact Staff Staffroom Jquery 1.2.3 Its currently opens the first even being School, what I want to be able to do is specifiy the to open rather than it being based on if the list element is odd or even. Can anyone give me any pointers?

Hey all, I was wondering if there's a simple way to update a div background without needing a page reload. I know javascript/ajax can do it for a normal image, but not seen a way to do it with divs as such. Looking for the div to reload the image every X seconds if possible? Sure I'm missing something obvious here though Thanks, Steve

I've got a form on a webpage which will have 'does this relate to an ICT suite?' On ticking this box, another select box will appear and list the different suites. What I'd like to do is then have another select box appear with the listed computers in that suite, and also have an image of the room layout displayed in a 'greybox' type manner with each computer marked on it and then when they click on one, it selects it in the select item (it'd be a multiple select item, so multiple ones would need to be clickable). Does anyone have an idea how to do this? The problematic part here would be the floating 'on top' window.

I have added a Rok Slideshow module to our school website, which displays as expected and as wanted in Chrome, and Opera. However, in Internet Explorer, it adds around 250px of white space above it for now reason. Any ideas why this is happening?

I need some help with a Javascript/css mystery. I made some webscrapers that get stock/price data for items my partner is dropshipping with her ebay business. Cuts down the time checking the status of all the items. So on one of the sites I was scraping successfully, the source code has changed and now there's information showing on the browser page but isn't in the source. (using regexp / preg_match(php) to get it) I can understand basic js/css but I don't know what's going on here., whether the information is somewhere on the page in an obscured form, on a linked file or they're using some cunning trick that simply makes it unobtainable... I wondering if there's anyone good at JS that I can pm with over this, point me in a direction. I'm stumped. Thanks in advance.

I need to be able to check for a tick box then show or hide a field and depending on that result clear a value from a field. I have some code that i can PM if someone can help
