Good morning fellow edugeekers,

I am looking for advice regarding Google and Chromebooks. We are mainly Windows and Apple based and use Office 365 for everything, OneDrive Sharepoint etc, but are starting to see some pressure for Chromebooks. At the moment we have G-Suite setup and have used it before with some very basic configuration e.g. sync to Active Directory, turn features on/off etc. However we now want to setup Chromebooks for management.

I have a couple of Chromebooks to test - we have never used these devices before. How do we enroll them for management? I have clicked the enterprise enroll when I've booted the device up but it says we need a license. Does anyone know which license and how much it costs?

Any tips and tricks would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure we only pay £18 per licence usually with Getech.

Sorry to say it but you're being overcharged @Danp

I guessed at the price, not bought any for 3 years and that was at my last school, no access to invoices.

Thanks everyone, what license am I asking for? I've put a trial of Google Enterprise onto our account and every Cloud identity and license I can find but the laptop still won't do anything. Is it a device specific license?

Thanks

The License was £19 a year RRP, and it will be going up to around £24 at the end of the year.

That's probably where the price differences come in, as it was supposed to happen in March, and then they delayed it till the beginning of 2021

Currently £19 going upto £30 , as of 9th March 2021.

It's definitely not £30. Much less than that! It was £24/25 RRP. Somewhere in that range.

Plus Chromebooks were supported for 5 years at that £19 RRP.

Now its 8.5 years, so per year, its actually cheaper than it used to be.

It shouldn't be £30 though if it's comparable to £19. Especially on a year groups worth of orders. I'm sure I've paid as low as £14 once. Typically £16. So hopefully resellers get to the £25 mark.
