Hi all This is stupid but I was playing around with adding .ics feeds to Outlook as I need to test them and I have ended up with calendar - archive in my list of calendars in Outlook. They are blank calendars and I'd like to remove them but there is no option to delete. They aren't showing in Outlook online. When I log into a new desktop client version of Outlook, they re-appear.... Anyone have any ideas? I've attached a picture. Many thanks

Hi Craig Thanks for that, sounds like a handy piece of software. I managed to delete it using 7-Zip Manager in the end, just hoping I don't run into any more folders with issues. Mark

We are using RAID 5. We have a messy backup at the moment: All the data from the last 2 academic years is backed up offsite using RedStor Attix 5 supplied by SoftEgg. This is roughly 40GB of data and is run every evening at 7.00pm. We have up to 50GB allowance for our daily offsite back ups. This is not enough for photos and video files so these are not included in this backup. All photos and videos are backed up every evening using some free software called Duplicati. This copies all photos and videos from our main server to our backup server. The 2 servers are in the same rack so not much use in case of fire. Once a month, Duplicati backs up technical data: system image (although I've not checked this yet), installation software and Papercut backups to our onsite backup server. Annually, we use Cobian 11 to back up all data from before the last 2 academic years to our backup server onsite. Finally, Windows backup should take a system image containing all active directory details etc to D:\temp|WindowsImageBackup, daily at 4am. The whole backup system seems a mess to me and I'm thinking there must be a better way... Mark

I'll give it a go. As the server is our domain controller - I'll have to schedule this in out of hours. Is it safe to run a chkdsk without the /f, in read only mode while the server is running? Will this at least give me an idea if there are any bad sectors? Many thanks. Mark

You've cracked it! Thank you so much! I installed 7-Zip and at first was unable to delete the file (nothing happened, no error of any kind) but was able to rename it. After renaming it, I was able to use 7-Zip to delete it. Now, I'll copy the data out of the inaccessible folders - create new ones, copy the data back in and delete the old folder. The whole thing is very strange. You mention this being a unicode issue. I'm going to look into unicode and how it works but any idea what could have caused this? Is it likely to be corruption on the drive? Many, many thanks. Mark

Nothing unusual relating to the folders in Computer Management. Michael, by logs do you mean Event Viewer? I there an easy way do upload them? Mark

One thing, I am using the back up software - Duplicati to copy across all photos and videos to our back up server on our network and it appears to be some of these files that are affected. It's free software and can be a bit flaky. In fact it was the errors in the Duplicati log that made me investigate the folders in question... I wonder whether that has got something to do with the problem? Mark

Hi Michael I don't think anything is. Other folders in the computing folder can be renamed and deleted okay. Just specific ones that can't. I there anyway I can check to know for sure nothing is using that specific folder? Thanks for you help. mark

Hi Jawloms Thanks for replying. Sorry, I don't quite follow... The computing folder is already shared, however, there is no drive mapped directly to it. Not sure quite how to proceed as I don't want to delete the folder. If I map it to a drive - how will I delete it? Thanks, sorry for being dense... Mark

It is in the following location: D:\Shares\Teachers-Shared\Planning Archive\Computing\Evidence Video I tried renaming it manually but got the following error: "Could not find this item. This item is no longer located in D:\Shares\Teachers-Shared\Planning Archive\Computing\. Verify the items location and try again". I have also tried renaming the file using cmd but the syntax is wrong: I'm not that great with cmd...

Hi all Bit of a newbie here so please bear with me... We have a folder on our server (Server 2012 R2) that simply will not be deleted. The file is on a network share and is called 'We are photographers'. The file is empty. When I tried previously to delete it I got the error that the directory could not be found. However, it was right there in front of me. I used cmd to navigate to the directory and used the dir /x command to list all files. It appeared as listed there too. I then tried the rmdir /q /s command to delete the folder as follows: rmdir /q /s We are photographers rmdir /q /s "We are photographers" Which both returned the error: "The system cannot find the file specified". I tried looking for the short name which I guess would be something like "Wearep~1". However, on the server no short names are listed when I type dir /x, only the long file names. I also tried renaming the file but didn't have much luck there either. Now when I try to delete the file (logged on as admin) I get no error - only 'Are you sure you want to delete this file?' and then nothing happens and the file stays there. I'm actually worried that we have some corruption as there are roughly 10-15 folders that windows is unable to find, however the files inside them are intact. Any ideas?
