  1. And to think only a few weeks ago we were discussing with our Action1 sales representative how bad the CrowdStrike incident was. Not happy about this at all.
  2. It appears to have been caused by a regression in a recent Windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/july-9-2024-kb5040442-os-builds-22621-3880-and-22631-3880-0864308e-61cc-413b-8194-0294331aba52. Scroll down to Known issues in this update. Seems like Microsoft released KB5040527 on the 25th to fix it properly, because when I last looked at it there was a Known Issue Rollback GPO you could download & apply instead (which we could not get to work in our deployment sequence).

  4. Sounds like you need to configure Hardened UNC Paths in a GPO. I found some articles going into more detail below: https://help.univention.com/t/how-to-access-netlogon-share-of-other-school-or-domain-from-windows-clients/18743 Unable to Access SYSVOL and NETLOGON folders from Windows 10 | Windows OS Hub We have it set in our domain's Default Domain Policy for the \\*\SYSVOL and \\*\NETLOGON shares (you can use wildcards) as RequireMutualAuthentication=0. I believe this is the crucial parameter that needs to be changed, the other 2 can be left alone at their default values i.e. by just leaving them out. It's worked fine for us ever since it was implemented in that manner.
  5. SchoolBooking seemed great in terms of features & cost until we had to stop the trial because a MAT decision was made to move to Bromcom. However, I know that other schools in the MAT had SchoolBooking established well before the change-of-MIS and that they are still using it after the migration was completed. I'd imagine all they did was change the Assembly Connector (SchoolBooking's chosen MIS sync application) to point to Bromcom instead of SIMS. There was also SchoolCloud but that turned out to be more expensive than SchoolBooking for (what I remember) no real difference other than it looked more modern. Taking a quick look at their website again, it seems that they don't even support Bromcom anyway.
