  1. Where I work (local government) all devices are given a “blue sticker number” which is internally tracked by the Service Desk/IT. Regardless of the serial number or location, it is always the blue sticker number that is used. In the backend AD, it’s all labelled ORGNAME-BSN (Blue Sticker Number), but before we had W10 implemented it used to be ORGNAME-BSNL (for laptops), ORGNAME-BSND (for desktop) and I’m sure our ageing VMware environment was W7-x86-XXX (with that being a random number based on which machine we connected to). Servers follow a shorter naming scheme of SHORTORGNAME-number (e.g Green Abbey School would be GAS-01). When I was in school a variety of naming conventions were used. From what I can remember, SD-XXX, TN-XXX and TD-XXX was used (SD - Student Desktop, TN - Teacher Notebook and TD being Teacher Desktop). Servers were SCHOOL-SVR ROLE-XX (e.g SCHOOL-SIMS-01 or SCHOOL-MAIL-01)
  2. Where I work we are in the early stages of migrating to Exchange Online, and sometimes I get the redirecting error when attempting to login to Outlook (I only use edge). To get round it, all I do is click on my Outlook shortcut again and it comes back on[emoji16]
  3. For me, I’ve got two monitors, my webcam, and then a Logitech keyboard and mouse which can both switch between 3 devices at a click of a button- a huge benefit when it comes to working at the same desk with a work laptop, personal desktop and occasionally a personal laptop
  4. I'll have a word with the Director of Digital Learning in morning to see what he can sort out. It may be he can organise for me to have a CC4 logon created. Thank you anyway
  5. Hi, On our Windows clients we do have SSO to RM Unify, but even on my Chromebook- I have my personal gmail account for home use, then I have my full time student account, then the Digital Leader account (like mentioned above). Obviously when I log onto the DL account, I can access everything perfectly, but when I log onto my student account or my home account I have no access whatsoever. However, the Director of Digital Learning has an admin account (not provisioned through RM Unify), and he can log on on any computer to Gmail. I have a funny feeling that I would need the Digital Leader account moving into a seperate OU (possibly to the same OU as the admin account but no admin rights are granted). Hope that makes sense. I have some staff training in just over a week and I need access to that account (all users now have SSO enabled). Again, hope that makes sense.
  6. Hello all, At the school I go to we have RM Unify- we've had it for the past 3 ish years. We used to use Sharepoint/Office 365, but we are now moving completely over to G Suite. All of the accounts are provisioned as normal via RM Unify into G Suite, but recently the school has set up an additional account for myself to use (and any other Digital Leaders). This was created directly in the G Suite Admin console, and I can log on fine through a Chromebook, but I can't log in on any other device. I go to gmail.com (as the account isn't in RM Unify), and I type in the email address, but even though the account IS NOT in RM Unify, it sends me to the RM Unify login screen. This is causing an issue as I will need to log into the account on a regular basis from a Windows computer (and occasionally a Mac). Can anyone suggest what could be done here? I am beginning to think that the account needs to be deleted in G Suite, and then re-created in CC4, then it would allow me to logon through the network, and on RM Unify. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Theo
  7. I'll have a look later on- have exams all morning
  8. Yes, it is that plugin at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/driveforoffice I'm not sure how it was deployed on the network, but on some computers it showed in Office one day, the next it disappeared. I've also contacted Boardworks support as well to see what they say, but I'm pretty sure they won't say much. Thank you!
  9. Thank you! I'll let the staff member know when I get in tomorrow morning. I only suggested the Google Drive plugin because my understanding is that you can save it directly to G Drive, and not have to constantly save to one location, then upload to another- but I've only used it for a week- didn't 100% like it, so I just ditched it and started using G Docs, Slides etc and not MS Office.
  10. Hi all, This is my first post on EduGeek, so I'm hoping I do everything right! Basically at the school I attend I am a Digital Leader. I have received a request from a member of staff in science that uses animated PowerPoints from Boardworks. These work fine when in MS PowerPoint (we run 2010), but as we are slowly moving over to G Suite, he has reported that the animations don't work in Google Slides. Does anyone know how I could resolve this? I have already suggested using the Google Drive plugin for Microsoft Office (which we have deployed to all staff machines), and currently I think this will be the best idea. Thank you! Theo
