About SEdwards

  1. I've only ever had to contact them once and that was on Monday, they answered within 10-20 seconds and were very helpful. Guess I was just lucky!
  2. Being married to a teacher and from speaking to many other teachers... I'd say almost all of them don't use the interactive side of interactive whiteboards. In fact most rooms I've been in have got a normal whiteboard to the side of their interactive whiteboard. We're going down the route of purchasing commercial grade TVs which are around £400-£600.. we've had rave reviews so far. Saves a hell of a lot of money considering the cheapest interactive touchscreen I've seen is around £1300-£1500.
  3. I set this up in one of my previous schools and it in fact did work. We set up analytics to alert us via email if "OFSTED" is found in the ISP name of a visitor. It was triggered 2-3 times through the year, then suddenly we got a lot of hits from it which was followed by an inspection.
  4. We're currently awaiting our third and final quote for replacing our CCTV as well. So far we have two that want to provide Hikvision and one that provides D-Link. The D-Link solution is something I have experience with in my previous school and is a very good system. I'm very impressed with the quality of the Hikvision cameras though. Time will tell if they're the cheapest though!
  5. Unsure if it'll help, but from a pricing POV I did a full price up of 4 filters around 3-4 months ago before I left my last place. I found that the cheapest over 3 years were as follows (And in order): Smoothwall, Sophos, Lightspeed and Censornet. The difference between Smoothwall (The cheapest) and Censornet was around £20k over 3 years which I found absolutely crazy.
  6. We're having similar conversations with Barracuda at the moment, and I've just had pricing back. It'll cost us £3.91 per user for email security and £4.39 per user for 365 backups which is A LOT of money for us (And that's heavily discounted apparently)... so we're looking at alternatives. I think the main issue we have is that the email encryption offered by Office 365 requires too many steps to open an email, which will without question frustrate parents as it's frustrating everyone else that's been testing it... whereas Barracuda's encryption is actually done very very well... it's just a shame they're not priced for education.
  7. Hello all, I was just wondering if anyone has used Doddle https://www.doddlelearn.co.uk/ and can perhaps propose some alternative platforms? We're looking to make some savings in our budget and Doddle has presented itself to be quite expensive (This has recently been moved to our budget).

  9. We're pretty much stuck on Win 7 at the moment due to old software such as Autograph, 2D Design etc however we've come to the conclusion that we'll have to find alternate software as I'm pretty sure 2D Design hasn't been updated in over 10 years?
