  1. actually scratch that - I got another error message as I am not using SQL - only Access - - - Updated - - - Error Problem ID XXX was not found in the dtabase
  2. duh!! I knew it would be something simple. Thanks. Still get the error not found when searching on a ticket number
  3. Just setup the Liberum Helpdesk at another school - I like it - it is plain and simple and relatively customisable. However I cant get search to work. It is configured to use the Access MDB but searching for a ticket number or a knowledge base comes up with either an error or nothing. its while since I setup the last one and I have forgotten if I have missed something. Anyone that point me in the correct path to make search work? Thanks!
  4. Everybody - thanks for the comments. I think i will stick with cisco as I know what i am doing with them - i am sure i can find a deal somewhere!
  5. Wouldn't touch the sonic wall - just don't like it at all! I will have another look at the 3650 and see what i can get it for.
  6. Thanks - the 3650 is around £3K? I would be better looking at a MX250 for that money, yes? Looking to spend around £1500 and need to create a VPN, NAT/Firewall rules and maybe block a few websites at top end. We use a Smoothwall for general filtering and so far it is great.
  7. We are about to increase our Internet connection to 300/1000 As such my Cisco 1841 wont cope as it is only 100Mbs A meraki MX appliance would be great but i simply can't justify the price even for one of the wee MX84 versions. It has been suggested i look at a Draytek 2960 but i just feel i need / would like something that has the power of a Cisco. Any thoughts gratefully appreciated!
  8. Sussed it! You will need the Win 10 ADK form here https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/windows-assessment-deployment-kit And the 1703 version of win 10 takes a while but eventually sets up and allows you to create the catalog file.
  9. Fair, but i like the simplicity of creating an image with all relevant software and then being able to sweep that out pretty quickly to a large number of machines!
  10. yes, i did uninstall and also setup on a new server too! Will MDT allow me to image machines etc just like WDS?
  11. I have a simple WDS server, running on Win2012R2. It has hosted W7 images successfully for 3 years now. Creating the distribution share was easy enough, as was the unattended xml files etc. Creating the catalog for the W7 and W8 images was straightforward. I am now wanting to image W10 machines and it is very frustrating! It has imaged the machines happily but refuses to create the catalog file. The error I get is; This application requires version 6.3.9600.16384 of the Windows ADK.Install this version to correct the problem I have tried this on different machines, all servers 2012r2, i have tried the different versions of the ADK and all to no avail. can i use my original robe and unattended xmls? How on earth do i create the Win10 catalog? Help!!
  12. Thanks everyone - this has clarified my thoughts. To summarise - smoothwall is excellent for filtering and the product team are updating the paper work to demonstrate the KCSIE stuff. Sonicwall is a great firewall but not so hot on the filtering side. Reality is that we should have both a firewall and filtering system in place.
  13. So does the smoothwall 'fail' KCSIE requirements?
  14. Thanks everyone - this has confirmed my own thoughts.
  15. Personally i am a fan of Smoothwall but i have one school using Sonic. Anyone offer me some views on either? I don't like the sonic unit form what i can see so far but i am open to be persuaded!
  16. Thanks David we are good here - I just wanted folks opinions.
  17. so, Leased line is better, more adaptable and has greater expandability. if a company is trying to sell us EAD then it must be running back to their place for Inet connectivity?
  18. Thanks for this. So why would i want EAD as opposed to a leased line for my Internet connectivity? Is EAD really to benefit the phone system while not really giving create internet access?
  19. Whats the difference between Leased Line and EAD? Which one do i want? What are the pitfalls? thanks!
  20. Thanks MrWoberts - half term so forgive the tardy reply. Have removed roaming profiles for the administrator and so far things do appear quicker. Will monitor......
  21. so, i have a number of Hyper V Win2012R2 servers hosting both live VMs and replicated VMS. All Vms are primarily win2012rs2 - some are win2008 but they are not important. Some Vms are fine, both up, log in etc no probs. Some VMs get stuck both on login and on shut down with Please wait for the User Profile Service. it is a PITA!! DNS is all fine, AD is all fine, pinging one of the 4 DCS all works happily. The HyperVs themselves come and go down happily. Any clues as to how to resolve this? it can take upwards of an hour to reboot a box!! i have trawled the net and get all sorts of advice to try and do different things. i have even deleted the roaming profile to see if that helps but to no avail. HELP!
  22. Think i may have found it. Pays to read the error more closely! https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000021683 Will let you know if this fixes it.
  23. Mukz - you had the same issues i had but they are none dealt with on the upgrade?
  24. folks, truly sorry for delay in getting back So, thought it might be a fault in my Raid array. Moved all my VMs to another Hyper V Host. My SQL Server is still not backing up correctly but interestingly everything else is...... Yes, BE runs at night, as does Veeam and it has done happily for about 2 years now. Everything stopped in early Feb. Veeam is backing up the VMs fine. Its BE thats not working. V-79-57344-65233 - Snapshot Technology: Initialization failure on: "\\xxxxxxxxxxxxx\System?State". 25. yes, i have run live update. am wondering if this is an MS update that has caused the problem. - - - Updated - - - Pete - thanks - i run Veeam too. However i am paranoid about backups and like to run both.
