At the moment Cloud Drive Mapper uses 'drives' specifically as a mechanism to integrate with the cloud storage. However we've noted requests from customers to be able to do this with specific folders. It's on our roadmap but I'm afraid I'd not want to give you any dates as to when this will be complete at this time, as we have a few other priorities at the moment. Regarding My Documents, there is a folder auto-forwarding function in registry that can achieve this for you. We've actually successfully achieved this in our test environments with Cloud Drive Mapper. It has a few caveats around its use though - as the first time it works, it actually does an auto-migration of the My Documents folder to OneDrive. This is actually pretty cool, BUT if it was done in an uncontrolled fashion it could really hammer your bandwidth. If you want to have a chat about it then get in touch [email protected] and I could schedule a meeting with someone who can talk about this in a little more detail? I'd not like to commit to an answer with Macs just yet. At the moment we're working towards mapping to mounted drives, but wider than that it could well be possible. I think we'd probably need to do some more research first.

Hi, definitely not avoiding the question. Not sure anyone in the thread so far has asked it We've done most the development. Google Drive works in a fundamentally different way to Office 365 so it's had to be completely re-architected. There are a couple of final bugs we're fixing at the moment that we picked up in the test phase. It's a priority for us, so we have a dedicated team on it at the moment wrapping up the loose ends, so it shouldn't be longer than 4 weeks until it's ready for public launch.
-
Hi, as mentioned above it does depend a bit on the complexity of the environment and deployment given we support the whole process, some deployments are quick and straightforward, others sometimes need some added configuration to integrate with different ADFS/AD infrastructure models, but default Cloud Drive Mapper minimum is £999.
-
Hey, there would still be a minimum, just a lower minimum depending on the complexity of deployment and level of support required by the customer organisation. We provide an ongoing support service and we help with implementation, so it's not possible for us to do this with a single user (at £1.08 per year) for example.
-
That minimum price only applies when you take the full IAM Cloud identity and access platform as part of the package. Unfortunately the running costs of the platform and the service we run around it means that we can't go lower than 1500 - but if you were wanting Cloud Drive Mapper as a stand-alone application then we don't need to impose the same minimum pricing.

Hey - I'm afraid we don't provide a file migration tool/service at the moment, but there are a couple of tools that can make it easier: Microsoft provide their own and, the market leader in migration tools are Bit Titan who have a tool for File Server -> ODfB, that utilises Azure blob storage as a middleware. Bit Titan (MigWiz) might be a little bit pricey though - I'm not sure how generous their education discount might be though. We also have a partner here in the UK called Fuse Collaboration that specialise in Office 365 migrations - including files to ODfB, who we've worked with on a few projects in the past.

Hi folks, Do you have Office 365 in your organisation? Next question - are your users still using on-premises file storage for their home drives & file shares? If the answer to these questions is yes. We (your friendly Office Software forum sponsors ) have a very handy utility called Cloud Drive Mapper https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper that allows you to map drives to your OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online storage. It allows you to properly adopt Office 365 storage, move a significant amount of your file storage into the cloud and reduces reliance and need for on on-prem servers, which can quite significantly reduce your costs. Here are a few key facts & figures Cloud Drive Mapper is used across several hundred educational establishments (from small schools to large universities and trusts) with a total 1.1 million education users. It removes the file sync element of ODfB & SharePoint making it viable on multi-user computers and computers with small hard drive specs It works with ADFS (or alternatively IAM Cloud's own federation service) to provide SSO and automatically provision the drives on startup with no user intervention. Just like network file storage. Choice of EXE / MSI installers and is easily deployed to domain-joined workstations via AD GPO. It only takes a few minutes to configure and deploy, and we can help with the process. IAM Cloud is a MS Gold Partner and won Microsoft's Worldwide Education Partner of the Year award 2015/16 because of this feature Provided with a full service to help with implementation and ongoing support. Much more stable than the PowerShell drive mapping utilities, and is regularly updated and improved. It's significantly discounted to education (90% off) and has further volume discounts for large user bases We provide no-obligation free trials, which are quick and easy to setup https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper-trial-signup If you're looking at ways to better adopt the cloud, get rid of some on-site infrastructure, and reduce some costs - this is a quick easily-affordable win. PS Google G-Suite version is complete, just finalising testing. Watch this space.

Right now we map drives to SharePoint Online libraries to allow organisations to have multiple shared areas. We use Cloud Drive Mapper with SharePoint internally in our company so I can vouch for its usefulness. We're looking at functionality to be able to map drives to specific folders as well in future, and all suggestions are duly noted regarding added functionality.
-
If you're looking at our whole IAM Cloud identity and access platform that does SSO/provisioning/password reset etc as well, then we're limited in the discounts we can provide at this kind of scale because we have to pay Microsoft a fairly handsome sum for the Azure compute/resources for hosting our platform, and because of the advanced 24/7 monitoring and technical support we provide as part of the service. However if you were just looking at the Cloud Drive Mapper tool in isolation, then it has very little running cost to us (except for our development, support & implementation teams) so we'd have more flexibility here. I'm not directly involved in the commercial side of things (and I wouldn't want to tread on our sales team's toes haha) but I'd say that we can certainly look at providing a sensible discount to organisations at ~1000 users in scale. We work closely with a lot of schools, colleges, trusts, universities of sizes from <100 to >500,000 users, so we try to be as fair and reasonable as we can around this. Feedback on the service and pricing is always welcome too.
-
We provide volume discounts for organisations with large user counts on top of the education discount, might be worth a chat with our team if that's the barrier? We've not had any real issues with price before that I'm aware of. But sure, you may find having AD/DCs on-site has some ongoing benefits beyond storage. If you're wanting to go full-cloud and can get Windows 10 across all your machines, then you can Azure AD Join and we can tie our federation (and subsequent drive provisioning) into that too. So there are a few options possible.
-
Ha, well, that's definitely understandable. However our developers need to eat so the small heavily discounted fee we charge to education seems fair from our POV too

Hey - I work for the company I'm about to recommend, so feel free to take my advice with a pinch of salt - but you might want to try this https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper It does what you're looking for, and it's inexpensive, and fully supported by technical support and development teams who are on point whenever Microsoft likes to make random changes to its service that would otherwise break your file storage access Our customers have found it's much more stable than the PowerShell script alternative as well. We won Microsoft's Worldwide Education partner of the year award in 2015/16 because of it, and so far it has about 1.1 million users. But that's all hype, best to just try it out and see it working for yourself. Here's a free trial link: https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper-trial-signup Cheers, and sorry for the (hopefully not unwarranted) promo.

Using Onedrive for business online only
IAMCloud_Leon replied to bonnett11's topic in Cloud Services
Hey - I work for IAM Cloud (clue is in my name, but full disclosure anyway). If you're interested in this technology, it's probably worth you trying it for yourself. We run free trials and they're pretty quick and easy to set up, and we have a team that can help you through the steps. Here's more information about the product https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper and the free trial sign up page https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper-trial-signup Hope that helps - any questions feel free to reply or private message me. Thanks. -
Hi, full disclosure, I work for the company I'm about to recommend a product for, so feel free to take or leave my advice. We're sponsors over at the Edugeek Office forum and were Microsoft's 2015/16 Education Partner of the Year (worldwide) primarily because of this product. The tool is called Cloud Drive Mapper, and it turns your OneDrive for Business / SharePoint Online / Google Drive (pending imminently) storage to drives (e.g. L:\Lessons H:\Home S:\Shares you get the gist). Also works with SSO (either from ADFS or IAM Cloud's federation platform), so the user experience is slick like they'd experience with network storage. https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper We do free trials, so feel free to give it a try before making any decisions.

Can you use Office 365 to network other schools together
IAMCloud_Leon replied to chumpmonkey's topic in Cloud Services
Disclaimer: I work for the company I'm about to recommend, so feel free to ignore my advice. But IAM Cloud sounds like a pretty good fit for what you're looking for https://www.iamcloud.com It can do what apearce mentions, but all the O365 provisioning, licensing and group membership stuff is automated from AD or Capita SIMS etc (or wherever your users are). Once you've decided how you want it to work, you won't need to do any ongoing manual stuff. Just keep your source system up to date, and everything else should sort itself out. -
Hi, just so you know, you don't need to use IAM Cloud's identity & access platform to use Cloud Drive Mapper (our OneDrive/SharePoint drive mapping tool). You can use Cloud Drive Mapper alongside Dirsync & ADFS absolutely fine. It's just that most our customers elect to get rid of ADFS/Dirsync because they'd rather IAM Cloud handle that for them for no additional cost, and they can save themselves money and hassle running & managing a redundant identity provisioning and federation services.
-
If you want to keep the storage experience the users have right now, and avoid issues of OneDrive's sync tool - you should check this out: https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper - Full disclosure, this is a product of a company I work for, but it's hopefully relevant to your request and fairly popular.

An Introduction to IAM Cloud - Forum Sponsors

Hey! To be transparent and give you a clear picture of this. We have entered into a CVA - basically a repayment agreement to pay a tax bill owed this year over the next 18 months. The HMRC were happy with this, and it has now been fully resolved. But it is unfortunately classified as a form of insolvency to do this, which admittedly doesn't look great. The reality is that we have grown by nearly 70% this year and are in a strong financial position. To address your second point - we are still IAM Cloud Limited. The reason for the creation of the company IAM Cloud Technology Ltd is unrelated to the CVA and is connected to a growing alliance we have with another organisation. I can't give too much information on that the moment, because nothing has been officially announced, but it will be very positive for our customers and our business overall - so we're pretty excited about it! I will be happy to update you as required on progress. Feel free to email me directly on [email protected] if you'd like more information or to be kept up-to-date. Hope this is helpful and clears up some of the confusion. Cheers!- 18 replies

No, it would be like a network issue affecting your network drives, no connectivity means no access. Of course, if your Internet is down across a whole site, then you're likely going to have bigger issues to think about. Having said that, if someone were already working on a file locally when an outage struck then it would be fine though. They'd just be able to push it back up to the cloud store when your connection was back online.- 18 replies

Hi, just had to read through the thread... Ok, so no, Cloud Drive Mapper isn't currently a sync tool. It's a drive mapping tool, that allows you to create drive letters for different OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online end points. It gets around the issues of file sync, like not being practical on workstations that have multiple users. And it's powered by rules, so different groups of users can access different drives, as you would expect with Group Policies and network storage. It also works with IAM Cloud's SSO (or ADFS if you'd prefer), so users get a nice seamless experience when they move between machines. As mentioned above, we are creating Cloud Drive Mapper for Google Drive. So you will soon be able to map drives to Google (as well as Office 365), and we are working on expanding this out to other end-points, and we're working on Mac support too. One of our end goals is to allow hybrid drives across network storage and cloud, but with a simple consolidated view for users, as a network drive. This would allow organisations to make use of the speed of network storage and the volume of the cloud. But being honest, we've got quite a bit of a journey to get here. Any feedback on what you folks would like here would be useful though.- 18 replies

Hey gshaw, sorry to hear the experience hasn't been so great for you. I will feed this back into the team. We obviously didn't communicate that detail properly to set the right expectation, so I'm really sorry about that. Despite getting off on the wrong foot, I hope you're able to make the most some of our features all the same. For anyone who's interested - I can explain why our platform takes over duties from Dirsync. Unlike quite a few other SSO/federated identity solutions, ADFS+Azure AD for example, IAM Cloud handles authentication/federation in the cloud. This means there are no dependencies on being able to talk to your Active Directory to authenticate users. This means that if you have network, server or firewall issue on-premises, IAM Cloud is still able to let your users access all their cloud services. It's a major benefit for a lot of our education customers. In fact, we specifically designed our platform this way because our early customers preferred it like this, and I think it makes sense if you're wanting to make the most of the cloud. Of course, handling authentication/federation in the cloud means that we have to handle the provisioning in the first place - and not just negotiate the authentication with an on-prem directory (like AD). But again, being able to get rid of ADSync/DirSync, and allow IAM Cloud to handle provisioning instead, has been a major plus point for a lot of our customers. The approach we've adopted here also works well for alumni users. With IAM Cloud, you can remove your alumni from AD (to stop the ever increasing clutter), but still offer them ongoing digital services like email, library access etc, because we're still handling it in the cloud. This means alumni users still get a nice SSO user experience, and we also take the burden of password resets off your support desk with our self-service reset feature. Pretty cool if building closer relationships with your alumni is important to your institution. - Oh and responding to the question above on Google Drive integration with Cloud Drive Mapper. Yep, it's in progress, so watch this space- 18 replies
