Oh I agree with the MP vs lens comments completely!

As so often the case, as cheap as possible with the best spec. To be honest I rate CPU and memory over HDD space etc. Any decent offers around?

I've never had any problem with my Virgin connection and I've had it around 8 years. Sure it's out of line that they reduce my speed when I overuse the connection, but that happens less now I've got my new Xbox...

I think the original TC was talking about a good camera for family snaps which would mean fast start up, quick to take another photo, decent battery, compact. I dare say his mum doesn't need a dSLR. I'm a Canon fan also, my G9 is awesome but again probably more than your mum needs even though it is classed as a compact. I'd advise buying a magazine and looking at the 'best for £xx' section because most people on here rate image quality over price no matter what.

Exactly. That's what downloading was invented for!

Or go with Freesat?

We have a computer running SIMS.net that a couple of senior members of staff can access from home using a simple Remote Desktop session. They're responsible and understand the security implications completely always ensuring to log out and not give information out at all that may compromise the system.

So they were serious? Jees how up themselves are they! You'd have thought someone with 18 posts wouldn't be belittling the moderators...

My God I hope that was sarcasm...

Cheers guys I'll take a look into it when I get chance.

I don't know at the moment I'm at work and need to try from home really. The thing is from here it just seems to connect and give me a little icon in the tray... Will it make it so if say typing "net use P: \\Public" worked here it would then work at home as if the computer were here?

I've just enabled Routing and Remote Access on one of our servers, managed and to let a laptop not on the domain connect using my account. I don't get any mapped drives or anything, when I login to the network I get H:\ mapped through AD and P:\ mapped through a script. The whole point of setting this up is to enabled remote access to the files in those mapped drives. Do I need to configure any more settings to make these map over the VPN?

I had something like this from a respectable publisher, managed to figure it out myself as they wouldn't help but can't remember how now, I'll take a look.

I once got a new laptop screen for a laptop which had been damaged. They sent a 14" when I requested 15". I asked for the correct one which they sent and issued a return for the other, it's still on my shelf 3 years later as noone ever came for it!

We use a standard login script not vb. The functionality I'm looking for is so that Moodle will have their timetable from SIMS.net. Currently Moodle is already tied into our AD using ldap but SIMS is completely separate from both.

Yeah srochford's correct. Files deleted from redirected drives or UNC paths are seen as network files so completely deleted. Files deleted from a redirected My Documents folder are treated as local files so sent to recycle bin unless you specify not to in Group Policies. We have them set to completely delete due to the amount of space they waste in Recycles.

That's just what I was thinking!

Are they your photos?

Do we need to use this part? We dont' use Kixstart scripts... Required Logon Script Changes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The below code needs to be added to the beginning of the Kixtart Logon Script. This will check the current time and see if the user belongs to a group that has restricted computer access. If the user has logged on during a restricted time a message box will be displayed informing of this and then forcefully log them off

Beware about buying things with Linux on and then installing XP, someone told me the other day it was actually against the EULA...

Kids do that in emails. Or in between lines you can actually see in black text, prettty clever.

Has he installed the Additional Media Support update from Live? Otherwise DivX won't work. If he has, all he should need is Windows Media Player 11, not Media Center. If not he'll need to either reencode the files to WMV or get something to transcode them on the fly.

It's the scrolling I'm most interested in. Nothing worse on a laptop than having to constantly move the cursor to the scrollbars to move the page/window etc. I know some have areas for scrolling on the pads but they rarely work well, and never like two finger scrollingon Mac

So. When I'd never used a Mac before I hated them. Then I used a Macbook Pro and loved it and realised it's actually Apple I don't like. Now the honemoon period is over I'm starting to think it's actually touchpad I love more than actual Mac OS. Is there a PC based laptop with a touchpad that works like the Mac one? Or, maybe if I do the Windows install on my Macbook Pro will I get the functionality?
