I'm seeing CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID, and indeed it is. Just had a staff member with this error, upon investigation, the Common Name in the certificate is not for the URL they requested. Refreshed the page and everything worked OK. Looks like Netsweeper having problems when replacing the certificate following the MITM filter.

Yes, I'm seeing this in one of my schools. This school is on EDS Netsweeper, not been migrated to Netsweeper Cloud yet.

@Arcath I noticed this with ours last week, We have exactly the same problem. I have an email from OCL stating that it is a known problem, and that they were working with Sophos to find a fix. The ETA on the fix was the end of last week.

Just a quick update, I've got this sorted, sort of. There is a cure to the problem, but it introduces a minor hole in the filtering, so I'll not post it here. OCL are aware of this. If anybody needs to know about this, please contact OCL.

There appears to be a problem with the Google Drive App for Windows and the new Lightspeed filters in CLEO land. When I have internet options set to use the Lightspeed filters, Google Drive reports the internet unavailable, and I cannot sign in. If I then go back to the old proxy, it works fine. Accessing Google drive via the Web interface works OK. Anybody else noticed this? I have emailed OCL, I see what I get as a reply (-:

For those of you who don't get to see the Schools Portal, OCL have advised the following... One Connect Limited ICT Services are undertaking essential network maintenance, between 6.30pm and 7pm on Monday 13 January 2014, Tuesday 14 January 2014 and Wednesday 15 January 2014. During this work Schools connections to all Services including internet, email and CCTV systems (where appropriate) should be considered at risk. This work has been scheduled outside of normal school hours to minimise any potential disruption to customers. Jez

Look at something like a Netgear WGPS606 attached to the printer. Laptops print to a central printserver, which passes it to the printer on the trolley.

As an improvement on the above I have a vb script that reads a list of users from a text file and moves them from their normal OU to a controlled assessment OU, and adds them to the controlled assessment security group. This is run as a sheduled task on a domain controller. At the end of the controlled assessment another scheduled script reverses the process. Works a treat. Jez

Hello Simon, I've got two. They’re absolutely bomb proof. Very well constructed and thought out compared to some other brands. Just beware that they are sold as a bare trolley – no electrics. You will need to order the charging kit to go with it and perhaps the soft start as well. If ordered all at the same time they will come fitted. With the soft start they only have one power lead, not sure without, may be two. They are made from approx 1.5 mm steel and look almost imposible to force open. Downside is they are very heavy. Good large strong castors. My only gripe is that it is easy for pupils to close the door and trap dangling charger cables – which will damage the cable – PAT fail. Jez

If you have to use an upstream proxy to access the internet then you should put its address and port details in there. I was told that the registration system tries to connect at boot time, and then after a given interval, so it may be best to reboot after altering any settings here. Jez

No I'm not hiding the SSID. I've been experimenting with BIOS and got some results. The BIOS controlls the Wireless card, options as follows Always on Always off Controlled by LAN cable Controlled by button. When set to Always on or Controlled by LAN cable, I have problems. Using Controlled by button, and manually activating wireless as soon as the BIOS splashscreen goes, I can log on to the domain no probem. The event log shows that the wireless service is the first entry into the log at startup. Jez

Hi Alex, I've done as you suggested (on a different laptop), and have exactly the same problem. The event log shows netlogon failing before the wireless service starts.
