About trogers

  1. Jonah, I am having the same issue, except viewing the CSV it never gets past the first letter. Like you, it works if you attach one as a time (this takes too long) but not in batch of 2 or more. The same error is returned. Clients are Windows7, servers are Windows Server 2008 Did you ever find a reason for it?
  2. Thanks Angry. It works to return the username, so progress, but still only getting default policy. It seems we have the same problem as Ian. Very odd.
  3. Thanks MYK-IT Still didnt work, I went with option 1 but something is blocking the ident packets. Disabled firewalls on the laptop but no joy. The Smartcache reported that is receiving the request from '-' on machine '10.50.2.12' and it was allowed, but the laptop just returned a 'access denied' on any page. No security works but on default policy and with the 'major' downside is too large to make it possible. Our Smartcache was purchesed in June 2005. They need to be newer than June 2006 to be allowed the update. So the answer currently seems to be - there isn't one.
  4. Hi, I am not sure where the best place to post this is? I am trying to get a non school laptop (not part of our domain) to use our 'staff' filter rules via smartcache. Unfortunately the laptop reports 'default' policy, and on the smartcache logs the domain and username are blank shwoing an ip address as the machine name. This ip has to be dynamic so setting the laptop to a static ip is not an option. Any ideas, can this be done? Thanks in advance. Tony

    Mouse Mats

What do I do with shiny surfaces. Anyone else had this problem? Anyone tried painting an area of the desk for each mouse? If we get mouse mats they will just get trashed and make a mess. Any ideas greatfully recieved.
  6. Great read, thanks for pointing it out.
  7. Who told you that?
  8. Yes I believe so. I stress they have been fine for a year and then a sudden epidemic hit. I would advise getting more than a 1 year warranty.

  10. A tale of caution... We bought hundreds of these machines last year and were so impressed with the way they held up against the waves of impish abuse from our lovely children when invest in hundreds more this year. However those machines in that batch that were used for admin use (support staff) are slowly dying off. We have had 10 that are a year old all fail with the same fault in the last month, previous to that I dont think we have had one problem. The fault is such that it would seem that the machine is on but it not sucking enough juice to power anything connected to the M/board except the processor fan. A change of power supply did nothing to solve it and after removing different things (memory/cd drives etc) it worked temporarily (almost loaded windows) but returned shortly after leading us to assume it is a M/Board issue. Currently we have 5 away with Lenovo repair centre in Stirling (quite a distance from here in Dorset) and I have 5 sitting on the floor next to me ready to send away. Unusually none of the year old batch that were used in classrooms have failed with this fault. If anyone has experienced anything similar I would love to hear from you.
