We went with HP DC7700 for £325 +£24 for an extra gig of RAM. Misco gave us this great deal. For TFT we went with HP LP1965 at £122.50 (+ £40 cash back) we got them from insight. Thanks for everyone help & advice, & yes we would recommend this PC & screen especially at these prices. Next job... what is the best price i can get for a HP Laptop (RH686EA#ABU)

The Headteacher & on site police officer ask us to block it in the class rooms as kids were using it to upload videos of fights etc... The staff HATE us even more for this even through the Head ask for it. As for headphones we got a box of 31 for each ICT suite gave them to the teacher & we never have to deal with them again. Look hear for some cheep headphones (as in price) http://www.mt-electronics.com/

I use Pipex & have had little to No problems with them over the 7 or so years i have been with them, I like the fact that if there is a problem (like the exchange going down at BT ends) they give me a free dial up account to use. I am on the edge of the exchange & get a better speed& contection than the rest of the people in my block. I have heard good things about Sky but the people who have said the good things are not the brightest of people when it comes to IT Just DONT go with AOL

We have had a few of the PSU go and when we call Dell to say “the PSU has blown there is no power getting to the PC†and they keep asking about what lights are on & can we try different cable/PSU it can get a bit annoying, but that aside the DVD RW are not very reliable & there is the "feature" (as Dell call it) of the PC going into a coma if it gets too near to a mobile phone. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2693154430071088233

It is that time again where we have to buy new PCs. This time the lucky Dept are English, Maths & Tech we want to get the same if Possible but we will probably get a better video card for the Tech lot. We have little space (like most people) & they need a bit of a kick but at a fair cost (again like most) Last year we got DELL Optiplex GX520 which are ok but DELL Support is a pain. As for spec we are looking at getting the next level up. We have seen these: http://www.sclonline.co.uk/category3.php?c3=Systems@All+In+One@Intel+Pentium+Dual+Core What do you think? Do you know any1 that has try these? Or can you recommend any, what are you planning on getting this year? Thanks in advance.

We are now only using Epson emp-82/ 82e they are very reliable and if the bulb goes during the 3 year warranty Epson come & replace it normally next day. I have had No problems with them or the Epson EMP-74. In the past we have had Phillips projectors which all needed replacing after 3-4 years due to yellow blobs appearing on screen. Apart from that the others projectors we have had had no major problems but for the support I have to recommend Epson all the way. And try Misco for a good price, I don’t think any of out others suppliers have even come close to beating them on price. Hope that helps

I have set up a teacher’s pc exactly how I would like it for the rest of the rooms & need to know if I can copy the settings from 1 PC to another, so I can keep tutor settings the same in all room etc… is their away of doing this? Or do I have to note the changes & do it manually for each pc? And has anyone had any problems with this software? We are using it in 4 of our IT suites but have come across a few problems such as PC being given the wrong name, & an error when u log on with a local Administrator account. Thanks.

I also had this with our Phillips lc 4433 We got about 4 years out of them b4 it started, we have changed all of them this summer as in their 5th year some became unusable, we are now only going to use the Epson EMP 82 misco give us a good price.

I want to set up a different desktop for the different year groups we have in the school the main thing I want to change are the wallpaper & the colour of the start/task bar (sorry if that’s not the right name) at the bottom of the desktop. I have read a few about trying to stop the kids from changing the wallpaper but the kids keep finding ways round it, but the kids cant change the start/task bar & the teacher can see straight away if someone is using a different account by looking at the bottom of the screen, well that’s the idea anyway. Thanks.

Can any 1 recommend classroom management software? The head of ICT wants it to automatically reconnect a PC back to the group if the kids shut down said PC as at his last school the kids worked out if the restarted their PC the teacher had to restart the group. He also wants it to keep all the PC from one Suite in a group & display a thumbnail of what they r doing, & the ability to send commands to the PCs e.g. Log off, close & shutdown. We have seen Ranger but it cost too much & try to take over the network are their any other you can recommend. Thanks

Can i run the CDRom-Lock as a service in XP? As It only works if u have log in, & i think it only works if you have log in as an Administrator My boss wanted CD on them just in case we needed to Image them as in the past we have had a lot of HDs go & we cant Image them without an OS on them (or CD) Thanks
-
Cheers NetworkGeezer the CDRom-Lock work a treat. must buy NG a drink (i'll add that to the help desk)

I just had a look @ the AutoHotkey & it looks abit long, is there an easy way to disable it in windows? Thanks
-
We have got 80 new DELL optiplex GX520 PCs But they have the Laptop CD Drives. Our last set of PC with the same drive didnt last very long & we would like to stop the kids from opening the drive without unpluging them from the mother board, as we (technicians) would like to use the drives for Imaging etc... Does anyone know of a way of doing this in windows? we are using Server 2003 & XP clients Thanks
-
We have had very Little Problems with Misco & we order a LOT from them, So long as your account manager realises you know what a good prices is they are a good port of call. Our account manager (Keith Fryer) is Very helpful & we have never had any problems with Return etc… & if we put Misco up agance other suppliers they nearly always win or match the price. They are our first port of call (& most times our only)
-
I think the upgrade is £30 & the OEM is £90
-
Thanks, so you would say that for all our old pc that had 98 on them we can buy an upgrade & put it the OS on to a diffrent (new) PC & be legal :angel11:
